Question about Olympus FE-130 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My screen keeps showing card cover open error.

When i turn on the camera an error appears "Card Cover Open". I have seen a solution to this problem posted on this site on Jun 28 last, by bmwrider. I attempted to place a wooden match and a piece of plastic into the wooden as suggested but the error still appears. It was mentioned that htis switch may be shorted! How can this be join successfully? Butty.

I had the same problem after a little plastic trigger thing fell out of the hole above where it says push to eject. After poking around for a while I took the camera apart (remove 7 screws) which made it much easier to see, with a magnifying glass and lamp, what the problem was. A damaged wire that needed to be connected to something. Only the very end of the wire was visible, inside a small white plastic box thing. The plastic box thing eventually fell apart with my attempts to put in bits of wire of varying shapes. When it came loose I was left with a short stiff bit of wire. I took a strand of copper wire (from an old piece of electrical wire), twisted it so I had a small loop at one end, looped it over the end of the stiff bit of wire, and then curved the rest of the wire (about 3 - 4 cm long) so it was resting on a silver piece of metal just below where the white plastic box had been. Put the cover back on and the camera worked. Needless to say, it won't let me know if I've left the cover off, but then it won't work unless the cover is on, so it doesn't seem to matter. Saved about $100.

Who can repair a Gateway DC-T50

Refer to the manual page below - note the last 2 items
If you take the camera and the card to a sales outlet the assistants are usually helpful

Inserting an SD Memory Card(Optional)
All images and video clips taken by the camera can be stored in an SD (Secure
Digital) Memory Card. Even if the camera's power is OFF, the images saved in the
SD Memory Card are not erased. An SD Memory Card can be repeatedly read and
written. You may also expand the memory capacity up to 512MB so that you can
store additional images and video clips.
1. Make sure the camera is off.
2. Slide the battery/SD Memory Card cover in the direction of the [OPEN] arrow.
3. Insert an SD Memory Card :
The front side of the memory card (printed
arrow) should face towards the front side
of the camera.
If the card cannot be inserted, check the
orientation.
4. Close the battery/SD Memory Card cover.
To remove the SD Memory Card, make sure
the camera is off. Open the battery/SD Memory Card card cover. Press
lightly on the edge of the memory card and it will eject.
Note:
If the camera is powered-on without the card, the "NO CARD" message appears on
the LCD monitor.
To prevent valuable data from being accidentally
erased from an SD Memory Card you can slide the
write-protected tab (on the side of the SD Memory
Card) to "LOCK".
To save, edit or erase data on an SD Memory Card,
you must unlock the card.
MultiMedia Card (MMC) can not be used.
You need to format an SD Memory Card before using it in this camera

Hey there! I'm so glad for sites like these! Well, the point is, I got a FEE error on my NIKON D80 after putting on an old NIKON 28-85mm AF macro lens. Actually on aperture F22 it's working...

Leave the aperture ring on the lens at f/22. You can control the aperture from the camera body, the same way as on a lens without an aperture ring, by turning the command dial.

Will not autofocus

Hey shutterbug72,
According to the manufacturer the first thing you should try is cleaning the lens contacts with an eraser. If that doesn't work you could try removing the battery and reinserting it to reset the camera. It seems to me that if there was a compatibility issue going on you should have seen that from the start. As far as what lens you should buy both Tamron and Canon make very good lenses, but with Canon lenses you shouldn't ever have compatibility issues. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Some JPEGs won't display on PC

Hi,

From indications based on your post/description, it would appear that some portion of the Sandisk 1.0Gb SD card may be problematic. Problems like these are often due to the card being nearly full or partial error in the recording media.

It would be best to format the said card using your PC and then use a disk utility such as "Scandisk" or Norton's "Disk Doctor" to check for errors before using again.

There are other programs that formats USB flash drives and memorycards; two are HP Drive Key Boot Utility, Partition Magic.

Since this of course would delete all files stored, you must copy all that can be copied. If you would want to try and retrieve the missing images, you need to use a file recovery program such as GetDataBack or do a Google for freeware versions.

After formatting the card and checking for errors, it would be best to re-format it again this time using the camera itself.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information./

Good luck and kind regards.
