Yes, it can. It has a 10sec delay once activated. Ideally, you should use a tripod to steady the camera before you setup the shot. Make sure the dial wheel is set to P or the camera icon. Then hit the down arrow (at 6 o'clock) on the bottom pad on the back of the camera. Set it to max time using the surrounding buttons, then hit the OK button (middle round one I believe). Now, setup your shot, click the shutter just like a normal shot, once you hear a beep get in front of the camera and smile!
Good luck!

Camera picture distorted Olympus fe -340 8.0 5xzoom

Could it be you changed something in the settings?

Can you see the scene in a normal way before shooting? then it look to me the sensor an the camera have to be good.

It is to much to tell you how, because you have to look that up in the manual, but, please try to set the camera in auto mode, because is you did set to in the scene mode, and than chose blurry background, or shooting through glass that could cause the distortion.
I put the link for the manual down here, in case you can't find yours.
Start at page 6 to see how to shoot in automatic.
Be aware if you shoot ready shot (anti shake) on a tripodthe pictures will be blurred to.

I do not know what the yellow camera on my Fujifilm XP50 means? Also, what does the !AE mean?

Its an icon to inform u that your condition setting should be changed for better quality picture. It will still let you take the picture but in some cases it interferes but just change your setting( flash off/on or auto, night, landscape,indoors,ect...) I ignore it honestly but it's a guide for better pictures nothing serious. To take it off.i couldn't tell u. I think cameras automatically show that when u have a good quality picture camerA unlike the cheepies. But Now you know!

Some pictures flash up briefly and then state file error when I'm looking through my pictures, althoughthe file error ones are fine when I upload them to my pc. The memory card has been formatted. ...

This can happen if you accidentally dropped your camera or the memory got corrupted for some other reason. The image viewer in most cameras are quite rudimentary and can't handle partially corrupted files. You can't do much about it. But after you format the card AGAIN, then the problem will stop occurring.

Camera will not read memory card

Your camera is only supporting SD/MMC Cards (up to 2 GB)

The card that you currently have might be faulty. Please try another card.
You might also need to switch the camera over to saving pictures directly onto the SD card.1: Menu, Cam settings, Chose AUTO or SD card option Press OK
Note: If the SD card isn't in the camera or is unreadable the camera will automatically go back to saving you taken pictures on the internal memory.

Fuzzy pictures

If you have not dropped your camera or otherwise caused damage that would explain the change, then you should first check the settings.  Your camera has both automatic and manual exposure controls.  From what you wrote I expect you want to use the automatic settings.  First check the "dial" on top of the camera, which has a green AUTO setting.  Your manual should explain the settings in  further detail  if necessary.

Hello!

Please refer to your manual to reset the setting of the camera, or maybe set it to auto so that the camera will automatically set the color.

Several shooting modes

The Shooting modes are as follows: Program Auto (Factory default setting) Used for regular photography. The camera automatically makes the settings for natural color balance. Other functions, such as the flash mode and metering can be adjusted manually. Portrait Suitable for taking a portrait-style shot of a person. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Landscape Suitable for taking photos of landscapes and other outdoor scenes. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. Night scene Suitable for shooting pictures in the evening or at night. The camera sets a slower shutter speed than is used in normal shooting. If you take a picture of a street at night in any other mode, the lack of brightness will result in a dark picture with only dots of light showing. In this mode, the true appearance of the street is captured. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. If you use the flash, you can take pictures of both the subject and the background. Self Portrait Enables you to take a picture of yourself while holding the camera. Point the lens towards yourself and the focus will be locked on you. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions. The zoom is fixed in the Wide position and cannot be changed. Portrait + Landscape Portrait + Landscape mode is suitable for taking photos which include both your subject and the landscape. The camera automatically sets the optimal shooting conditions.
