you have not said what tv it is and it can be the hdmi cable if it has been damaged. or the grafic chip in the xbox check the xbox on another tv

in these case hdmi technology is new then ps3 you will use the hdmi or usb display mediator for ps3

Have you tried different cables? If you're using AV Cables (the red, yellow, and white cables) then there might be something wrong with the yellow cable (the video cable). The best thing that you could probably do is simply just buy another one. Or you can try an HDMI cable for better quality sound and picture. But the HDMI cable is only compatible with TVs that support HDMI. You can find cheap HDMI cables online, I just bought a 6 ft. cable for only $4.

Reset the video settings on your Xbox. SInce you put a HDMI cable, the settings are still set to what they previously were, and they need to be changed.

you might have inserted one of them wrong sometimes that can lead to and odd decoloration or black screen double check that and if it dosnt work buy some cheap ones off ebay or internet

the only thing i can think of is that you havent flicked the switch on the hdmi cables wher the plug into the xbox from tv to hdmi, if you have the go ahead and get it replaced

It may be your cables, if you are using HDMI cables a low signal from the cables causes screen "garbage". Try using a different set of cables. I got my HDMI cable off amazon.com for 5$ so they're not that expensive just read the customer reviews before ordering them.

Well it might be becuase your ps3 is european. Im no expert on the matter, but when i bought an hdmi cable and hooked it up to my hd compatible tv, i switched to the hd input (which happened to be input4 on my tv) and a message popped up saying that the ps3 has detected hd output, would you like to change settings? and it did it automatically after i hit yes.
