First there was a burning smell, then the picture was very dim.. Now no picture at all, just multi colored vertical lines, with a small spot that has a web like look to it. Does this sound repairable? or...

This is more than likely your screen controller board that has gone faulty, if the lines cover the screen vertically and are very thin and rainbow kind of coulored then i would say 98% this is the faulty board, Remove the back from your tv and look for a little board (rectangular in shape) that connects to your screen. (Middle top)
Get the part number of the board and Google or Ebay for a replacement.
Hope this helps

Dropped lcd tv

The problem with LCD panels is once they have a good "knock" they've had it! With the set off look at the screen and if you see a place with lots of colours (like a rainbow as it were) - it's gone.
To get an LCD panel replaced is VERY expensive much more than a new set is worth. Probably not what you want hear, but that's the way it is!
CHEERS! (:-).
