HP 1055cm printer drivers do not show up on MAC OS9.1 'chooser'
I have an HP 1055cm large format printer and trying to use MAC OS9.1 on an older G4 to print from. Process: - while printer is on and connected I downloaded drivers from HP web - the MAC 'chooser' will not recognize the printer - I was able to load a print icon to desktop and did this, but need to have preferences [without this recognition, I do not have size options or quality options]
*addtitional challenge: when I do print to the HP 1055cm, it crops the image on one side

Your best bet would be a parallel to USB adapter if you can find one that is designed to work with MAC. The Belkin unit seems to get OK ratings. Or connect the 4100 to your network, as the title shows 4100N. Not sure about driver support under MAC, you will need to check HP.com for the drivers.
you can run this printer without an hdd. disconnect the power from the hdd.you may have to disconnect the IDE controller (the small board that connects to the main pca) and disconnect the flat grey cable. this makes your DJ1055CM a DJ1050C it should print okay. you cannot format any hdd to work. you must buy the hdd from HP. if you can find one. good luck and i hope this helped.
System preference, print & fax icon, add a printer (no need to use the software install disk), when you add the printer use the default protocol: Line Printer Daemon-LPD, address if you know your IP address type that in if not type in localhost and this will locate your printer and fill the print using field.
Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't, if it fails go back in and under the print using field scroll for the driver or printer model, and selelct - Brother HL-525ODN or whatever brand you are trying to conect to and save.
You'll have to use google.com to translate this because I don't speak Spanish, but I used it to translate your text into English.
What you're seeing is PostScript being output to a non-PostScript printer. Mac OS 9 LaserWriter driver prints only PostScript. Make sure you've downloaded the correct driver from HP, and then make sure you're selecting the HP driver in the Chooser.
