LOL, I would never buy a touch screen. Give me a mouse, it's so much easier to replace a $10 mouse than a $400 touch screen.

Touch screens rely on drivers. Re-install the drivers.
If this does not work the screen probably needs to be replaced. The screen image does not reflect the state of the capacitance resistance touch function.

How to change the root password in Linux

You need to boot the machine into runlevel 1. This will reboot into a secured shell and allow you to run passwd. This will in turn allow you to set the password for the root account.

To get into runlevel 1, either type telinit 1 in a terminal or command prompt on a Linux machine, or reboot the machine and do the following:

When the splash screen for the OS appears hit F12. This should take you to the grub bootloader. Highlight the entry for the kernel version you are using and press "e". This will allow you to edit this entry. At the end of the line just add the "1" character to it and save the changes and boot into that kernel. The OS should boot directly to a command prompt. At this time you should be the root user. Simply run passwd and enter in a new password, reboot the machine and log in as root using the password you just entered.

Nextech mouse through usb continues to install successfully, then freezes while trying to move about my laptop! No, it is not that the Lptp is working in the background, leaving the mouse to freeze th

Step 1:
For a standard trackball mouse, unplug the mouse, turn it over and then twist the retaining ring counter-clockwise to remove it. Remove the trackball inside the mouse. Clean the trackball with warm water and dry carefully. Clean the rollers inside the mouse with a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol. Replace the trackball, then secure it with the retaining ring. Clean the outside of the mouse with rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball. For an optical or wireless mouse, clean the bottom of the mouse and the surface it sits on with a damp cloth. Solve Hardware Problems Make sure the mouse is connected properly. The connector will either be USB or PS/2. A PS/2 connector is color-coded green and can only be inserted in one direction. Check for any bent or broken pins or damage, then carefully plug it in, making sure the connection is secure. Reboot the computer. Connect the mouse to another computer, then reboot the PC. If the mouse works after testing it on another computer, the problem is most likely with your PC or operating system. Also, try a different mouse on your computer. If there is no PC freeze, your mouse is probably malfunctioning. Switch to a different USB port. Sometimes mouse freeze will occur if the mouse is connected to a USB hub. Connect the mouse directly to one of the USB ports on your PC. Try different ports until you find one that works. Replace the batteries. If you have a wireless mouse, replace the batteries with fresh ones. Also, try using a different kind of mouse pad. Sometimes surface imperfections can interfere with the operation of a wireless or optical mouse. Install more RAM or memory. If your PC doesn't have enough memory, PC mouse freeze may occur when you are running resource intensive programs. Installing more RAM will help your PC run more efficiently. Solve Software Problems Check for device conflicts. When you install another device on your computer, it can sometimes conflict with a PC mouse. Remove any new hardware and drivers you may have installed, then reboot the computer. Reinstall PC mouse drivers. In Windows, open "Control Panel" then "System." Select the "Device Manager" tab, then scroll to and select your mouse. Uninstall any drivers that are listed. Unplug the mouse and reboot the PC. Plug the mouse back in, reboot the system, then allow Windows to reinstall the drivers if prompted. Remove viruses. PC mouse freeze and other serious problems can be caused by viruses lurking on your system.Set the program to run a complete scan every 24 hours. Also make sure the virus definitions are updated regularly. Turn off video acceleration. Sometimes video acceleration can cause PC mouse freeze. Go to "Control Panel," then click "Display," and then "Change Display Settings." Click the "Advanced Settings" button, then the "performance" tab. Set the acceleration slider to "None," then reboot. Repeat the process moving the slider up one notch until you have the maximum amount of acceleration with no mouse freeze

My acer laptop is stuck on the "resuming windows" screen

Sounds like you have a boot file or system file that is corrupt or missing and you will need an operating system disc to fix the problem. If you have an operating system disc insert it into the CD Drive and boot from it. Look for the recovery console that allows you to get to a window to type in a dos command. The command you want to type is: chkdsk /r
This process will run well over an hour and you will notice the percentage of completion going from high to low but that's ok. Let it run to completion then reboot your machine. If the Check Disk utility don't resolve your issue you will need to reinstall your operating system. Depending on your operating system there are ways to do a repair which preserves your docs, music, pictures and videos. Otherwise if you do an install you will lose them unless you have them backed up someplace other than on your computer's C: Local Drive

I need to reboot my computer and when it starts up but i dont know how

How to reboot a PC.
  • Save work if it's in jeopardy. If your PC has frozen, attempt to save your data before rebooting your machine. Rebooting will almost certainly cause data loss. Attempt to save your data to your hard drive, diskette or portable media.
  • Step 2 Determine the steps your operating system has to go through to reboot. Some operating systems allow you to press Control, Alt and Delete to reboot the PC. Others require different commands. However, if the operating system and software are frozen, you may use the power button on the machine or the power strip.
  • Step 3 Use the power switch if necessary. If you cannot access the shutdown feature of the operating system and the relevant buttons still won't allow for a reboot, press and hold the power button on the PC. Allow the machine to rest for a few seconds, then power back on.
  • Step 4 Wait for the power-on self-test. Allow the PC to check its components thoroughly through the initial boot screens that will appear.
  • Step 5 Resume working. Log back into the machine and continue to work.
