Question about Compaq Computers & Internet

1 Answer

My compaq Presario V6000 will not start windows, it continously loops to an options screen with the following start options; Safe mode, safe made with networking, Safe mode prompt command,Windows last known working settings and finally Start windows normally. None of these work, the screen flashes a message in blue and loops back around to the above options.

What you are describing is the blue screen of death, meaning theres a hardware or software problem, try to boot into safe mode and perform a system restore, if that doesn't work use your XP cd, let it load the drivers and the ask it to fix the existing XP installation, anything that you have saved in my documents should be safe and the problem should be solved. If the blue screen reappears then you have a hardware problem

Good morning. My Compaq laptop (Presario V6000) is freezing on this screen when booting up: "Windows is starting up..." It has no battery life, so it's always plugged in. Please help. I have...

You can try booting into safe mode to see if there is a problem with a program/driver/setting in windows. First shut off the machine completely. Then after the first logo screen goes away start tapping F8 about every second until you see a new menu screen. It will have options like Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, etc. Use the arrow key on your keyboard to highlight Safe Mode with Networking. Then hit enter. You may have to hit enter again to select your operating system, but usually it just flashes text across the screen then comes to the Welcome screen with Administrator and your username. Click on your username to log in. Click OK on the warning message that pops up, it just explains safe mode. Try opening word and your paper, and see if you can work. If so, then you need to figure out which driver or program you recently updated, and roll it back or uninstall it. If you need further help let me know.

Compaq presario is stuck in a start up loop, this is a new problem, can't get the computer to go past the windows start up screen

Hello,
Press F8 after you restart( before the Windows screen). And choose Last good configuration. If it does not work Repeat in Safe Mode and try to restore to a previous Restore point.
If nothing works you might have to reinstall Th OS.

Hope it helps.
Rate the solution if it solves your problem.

Windows xp will not load on my computer....

It could be your hard drive problem. Which I called it, "Crash." I would suggest you try to format the hard drive and reload the operation system with your installation CD.

Start Normally (black screen with options)keeps re-loading itself

If you can't get into windows normally or into safe mode to try to restore the system back to a date when it worked properly then you'll need to wipe out the hard drive and start the system from scratch.

Compac presario R3000 problem

That screen is normal but only shows on certain occasions. Just use your arrow keys to highlight "Start Windows Normally" and press enter and you will continue to the blue sign in screen. If the removal software asks you start Windows in "Safe Mode", then restart the computer and select "Safe Mode with Networking".

Most common method for receiving that screen and those options is pressing a specific key during start-up for additional start-up methods. Another reason which may be the reason for your case is that something went wrong during start-up. Just follow the instructions above and it will be fine. Usually the reason why you are asked to choose is shown at the top of the screen and it will tell what the problem is.

Compaq notebook won't boot up

Hi

When you boot the computer back up go into Safe Mode and check to see if you can roll the computer back to the point before you installed the software.

If so this should work. If it works then run a virus scan, a defrag of the hard drive and cleans the temp files.

OR

You can do a diagnostic startup and uninstall Onecare. So once that it is uninstall ed it should be smooth sailing.

Here is a link for some startup / diagnostic software you could try after booting.

I hope this helps

/Shawn
