click on my computer.. properties.. hardware.. device manager.. select CD/DVD Rom.. (it would be in a Yellow Exclamation Mark).. doubleclick on it.. then select the option that says.. Driver Details.. and then Update Driver.. try to select options detect the driver online.. it will automatically detect the driver and try to search for it online..
or use the Product number of ur HP comp..
i.e., the one ending with #ABA.. go to
www.support.hp.com.. and enter the numbers before the # sign.. and search for Drivers CD/DVD Rom..
if you have cd writer and dvd rom then change your cd drive with cd/dvd writer because in the case of cd writer and dvd rom it gives error but sometimes the dvd play also but computer freeze from sometime and when we copy data then give us error messages i give you suggest to buy new cd/dvd writer
you can buy that type of hardware anywhere since it is standard for all desktop. Your current drive is IDE meaning that the data cable on it is an IDE type. Go to your local computer store and ask for a DVD writer IDE, since there is really no price difference now for a combo or dvd writer drive, it will be like 10 $ more for the writer. I live in canada so if you are in the US could be less here a DVD writer is around 35 $ at a computer shop.
Try cleaning with a lense cleanner cd, if it does not help then open up the drive and clean the lense by using a cotton swab like ear-bud. Do not use any chemical as it might spoil the lense. Reconnect it should work.
sounds like the disks you are writing are not coming out well, try burning at a lower speed,
I had this problem on mine, the drive is capable of 24X but I get quite a few faulures, writing at 16x works well for me.
Is the drive tray opening? If its not Then check the Power cable. If it does, does the BIOS detect the drive properly? If its not then Check your Jumpers on the Drive and Data Cable on the Drive. If you are using Windows XP and Above you do not need any drivers for it.
Hope This helps.
