Check the drain hose for blockage. Remove it from the stand pipe and be sure the end is open. Make sure it is not kinked or crushed. If the drain hose is attached with a spring clip or or clamp then remove it and flush it out with a garden hose. You can also check the tub drain for blockage but this involves (if its a top loader) removing the entire case and then removing the agitator and then the basket by pulling up. The agitator is probably mounted on on a spline shaft. There is also sometimes a gate valve on the side of the water pump that is electrically operated. Make sure it is not mechanically stuck by manually moving it. It should open when the pump starts. You have to take the whole cover off to observe this in a test cycle.

Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer (model: wfw8300sw02) partially drains. Clothes spin out as dry as ever, but 2-4 cups of water are always left in the filter/pump. I've 1) emptied the filter 2) disconnected...

puzzled here because there is always some water left in machine this is normal .you are quite right when you say that when you take the drain hose out of stand pipe and lower it water comes out but that is because of gravity .

Kenmore 20422 leaves water and clothes soaked after spin cycle

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.########) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Initial thoughts point to one of two places.

1. It's possible that your pump and/or hoses are clogged.

2. It is also possible that the "Motor coupler" between the motor and transmission is worn and cannot provide full power to the tub when agitating.

See the following illustrated descriptions of how to access the pump and motor coupler.

If either is bad or worn, they aren't all that expensive.

I doubt that the problem is the motor since the machine will agitate and spin.

Whirlpool washer; spin cycle not draining

It sounds like your water pump is broken. there is a motor inside that pumps the water out when the machine computer changes to spin cycle

Does not complete spin cycle

Ok, when this happens, its usually because of a drainage issue. the spin cycle has to work in conjunction with the drain pump to remove the water during the spin cycle and, if there is a clog or drainage issue, the spin cycle will shutdown. check the following to address this drainage issue.

1. Clogged drain line or water pump
Check to see if there's something stuck inside the pump or the drain hose connected to the pump (pump is usually located at the bottom and towards the back of the washing machine).

2. Water Pump
If the drain line isn't clogged, you may have a problem with the water pump such as a frozen pulley or a broken impeller. If that's the case replace the water pump. Note: if you have a belt driven washer, check the belt(s) for cracks, as this would be a perfect time to replace the belt(s) if needed.

What will the Max Extract button do?

The max extract button will do an extra spin to get any & excess water out of the clothes. It is a good thing to keep on to help cut down on drying time. If you find standing water in the washer, it is possible the hose is NOT in the correct position.

Whirlpool Calypso Cycle Problem

The FL error code means:
Flood Condition:
FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed

With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.

Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

This problem I see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.

There is a check "valve" in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. You can remove this piece, and might avoid changing the pump.
