Question about Flowtron LE-900 Leaf-Eater Mulcher

2 Answers

Reload cord. I have a Vornado Leaf Eater this is exactly like the Flowtron. I bought it used so I do not have a manual for it.It was out of cord or string or whatever the correct term is. The motor works fine I just need to reload it to be able to use it.I see a screw on the top but that didn't seem to work however I'm not very mechanical so I may just not have tried hard enough. Thanks for your help. Jeff Grant

I just replaced my Flowtron cutting string. That screw in the middle comes off if you turn it hard enough. Then the spool lifted off. I took it to the hardware store to get the right gage string, and installed it like the old. It was curly though, and got caught under the spool when I used it. Then the motor quit and won't start. So I just posted that problem. ~ CarolK

Jeff, I just got a used Vornado. I was able to take that screw off and lift off the cap. We replaced the cutting blade with .06 gauge filament, but the manual calls for .085.
It still worked just fine. Good luck. Barry

The motor burned out after one year of use. It was bought in Oct 2009. This year in Oct. it burned up in about 10 min. How can I get a replacement motor? I took it apart, cleaned it, reassembled it...

I would recommend contacting the manufacturer. The warranty was 1 year. If you are at 13 -14 months, I would ask Flowtron for some help in getting it replaced. Sometimes manufacturers are willing to split the cost of a repair that is near the warrany end to help keep a customer satisfied. It is worth trying.
Good luck.

Flowtron LE 900, The Ultimate Mulcher, just quit

I found a reset switch on the leaf-chipper. I was then careful to fill it more slowly, and to keep out sticks and clumps of wet leaves.

Shot in the dark here. If the mulcher is tripping and needs to turned off then back on, it's defective and should be replaced. If the circuit breaker in your house panel is tripping, try to use different circuit on a 20 amp circuit breaker. If your using a plug that is controlled by a GFCI receptacle or breaker, move to a different plug. GFCI receptacles tend trip when motor loads are applied. These are my best guesses since I'm not sure what exactly you are reseting.

How do you intall the cutting string on a Flowtron leaf eater?

I have an electric weedwacker which may be different. In the leaf wacker there are four small holes very near the center screw on the revolving shaft. These holes form two small tunnels. cut two pieces of line (10-12 inches) and stick one through each tunnel. Center each line, put the two ends together and poke them out through the small hole on the edge of the rotating shaft. You end up with two sets of plastic line facing out from the central shaft. Flowtron may be different. Good luck.

Circuit breaker

I was able to get a replacement 5 amp MB-1 push to reset circuit breaker for my Flowtron LE-900 directly from Snap Action http://snapaction.net/ for no replacement cost and no shipping/handling cost. No one at Snap Action enquired as to what it was for, age, warranty, etc. (their MB1 product description indicates it to have a lifetime guarantee). I just had to mail them the defective original breaker - took about 2 weeks to receive the replacement.

Mulchers storage

when its empty you can store anywhere you like but when its full try and keep in open place due to smell that may burst from the mulcher.
