I got error code 5200. I came here and found a solution (unplug, replug, etc.). Although this cleared my paper that was 1/2 way through printing, it didn't clear the problem. So I unplugged/replugged again and got a new error (something about not recognizing the printer cartridges - don't recall seeing a code with this message) and the printer suddenly died. I cannot turn it back on. Is it hooped?!

There are no error code #300 to look up. Please check the error code again and repost and I'll try to help you out with this problem. However the is a #300 error for the fax, it's basically a wrong number was dialed.
You can get the Manual from Canon's website. www.usa.canon.com

My canon pixma mp780 is not responding. I unplugged the cable and replugged in, turned off the computer and it still is not reponding.

Make sure that your computer still sees the printer. Go to printers & faxes and check. If it is gone reinstall software.

Canon Pixma MP780 won't power on.

It could be that the printhead has gone bad, you need to remove the right side cover and unplug the front top two ribbon cables and try to power up again. When the printhead is locked on the right the only way to remove the printhead is to unplug it from the circuit board. Unplug again while the inks are in the center and remove the printhead. At this point you plug the cables back in and get a new printhead, plugging the bad one in again could ruin the main pcb.

(1) Check the power cord
connection.
(2) Check the connection between
the SPCNT board (JPSU1) and
power supply unit.
(3) Replace the power supply unit.
That's what the service manual says for your problem!

Cost of Cleanng/replacing the waste ink absorber-for a Canon pixma 780?

This is just a worthless error message. You can just reset the waste ink counter to fix this issue.. The reset instructions are given below..
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Let me know how it turned up..

Canon PIXMA MP780 - suddenly no power

Mine has the same problem. The only difference is it threw a few errors first (weird stuff like improper cartridge, etc.) and I had to unplug/replug in the power to get it to work. Now, nothing at all. Dead. I really liked this unit too! Always used brand new Canon ink. Any ideas?

Canon Pixma mp760 - won't power up or initialize

I found this on another forum it'll clear the EEPROM so give it a go.

MP750 / MP780 waste ink counter reset instructions..

1. Service menu: Menu -> Scan -> Copy -> Scan (one at a time in sequence)
2. Select "TEST MODE"
3. Select "[8] ETC.."
4. Select "[4] EEPROM CLEAR"
5. Select "[1] INK COUNT"
6. Press the [OK] button.
7. Press the [Stop/Reset] button (returns you to the TEST MOD sub-menu))
8. press the [ON/OFF] button (which resets the printer)

TIP: Don't rush the printer as it can often take considerable time to respond to your commands. Frantic button pressing will just push the printer into snail mode (ie: slow as heck!).

Patience :)

Hope that helps... :)
