I accidentally deleted the windows messenger and cant find it. I have tried many attempts to locate it and reinstall it but just cant locate it..not even the icon. I went to program files and found the folder, but there is not a reinstall there. I tried going to microsoft to download it again, but it says I have to have windows installer 3.1. I dont want to mess anything up,,,so I was afraid of downloading anything. What should I do to get my windows messenger up and running again.

Re: windows messenger is gone
Go to the Control Panel / Click Add or Remove Programs / on the left column find the Add/Remove Windows Components and click on that. You will find Windows Messenger there. All you will have to do is put a check the box.

It is possible that someone has accidentally uninstalled Yahoo! Messenger.
Try going to My Computer > C:/ > Program Files > Yahoo! > Messenger and here look for an icon of a smiley face :) that reads Yahoo! Messenger. Try to open that. If it doesn't work or if it's not there someone messed with your files.
In which case go to Yahoo.com click on Messenger on the left hand side and reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application.
there you have to delete from your registry another folder that is not needed from your application then you are going to delete it..just follow my instruction if you have using another operating system then explore for it this is almost the same...for windows xp,2000,NT etc; other OS this direction may vary
first click on start>Run>type "regedit"find HKEY_CURRENT_USET>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Internet Settings>Zones.delete key or zone names as for example "?" or a square like you could seebut except keys 0,1,2,3 and forPLEASE DON'T DELETE keys 0,1,2,3 and 4. if it doesn't work jus simply restart your YM applicationor maybe your PC.. and there you go..If this doesn't work just send me mail email@example.comI'm glad to help... if its much helpful pls send me also a mail or just post it in my fb Account.. microsoft>windows.currentversion>internet settings>Zonesjro_hackme41@yahoo.com - fb account.. thanks everyone
it may be fixed by deleting extra key in registry settings.
navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Windows
\CurrentVersion \Internet Settings\ then delete keys other than
0,1,2,3,4 get someone who knows around windows registry to set it

sometimes reinstalling the YM Apps is not the solution, after you install it the YMis still not working its better to remove the folder of the messenger first in the C:/program files ; also try to remove the messenger datalink library in win32 and registry
