Question about Sharp (AN-XR10LP) Projector Lamp for XR10X

1 Answer

NO POWER TO UNIT...

I followed the instructions as given by one of your other "troubleshooters" by opening the projector and resetting the red push-in button. However, after approx 45 minutes of operation, it blacked out again. I have the unit mounted upside down approx 7" from the ceiling. When the unit had power failure #2, I reset the red button again and ran the projector for over 3 hours. This time I set it right side up on a small stand. No power failure has occurred. Would the ceiling mounting of the unit somehow be causing this failure? I have initiated action through my SquareTrade Warranty, but before I send it in it for repair, I will need to duplicate the problem as right now the unit is working fine. Other writers-in regarding the solution to this problem (opening the projector and resetting the red button) have not really explained why this shut-down occurred in the 1st place. If due to overheating, are the fans not operable or less efficient when hung upside down?

Yes. it's warm up there. and it's suceptible to alot of dust and dirt. all of that will cause the projector to overheat frequently. also: if you've had to reset it that many times, it's wearing out, and you should replace the bimetal breaker (the little red button).

Canon LV-S3 how to check hours on the lamp? do I have to have unit hooked up to an input source?

Lamp Replace Counter
Be sure to reset the lamp replace counter after Lamp Assembly is replaced. When the lamp replace counter is reset, the LAMP REPLACE Indicator stops lighting.
Note : Do not reset the Lamp Replace Counter until after the projection lamp is replaced.
1. Turn projector on, press MENU button to display the On-Screen Menu. Press Point left or right button(s) to move the red frame pointer to the Setting Menu icon.
2. Press Point down button to move the red frame pointer to "Lamp counter reset" and then press SET button. The message " Lamp replace counter reset? " is displayed.
Move the pointer to [Yes] and then press SET button.
3. Another confirmation dialog box appears and select [Yes] to
reset the lamp replace counter.
Note : Do not reset the Lamp Replace Counter until after the projection lamp is replaced.
This projector uses a high-pressure lamp which must be handled carefully and properly. Improper handling may result in accidents, injury, or create a fire hazard.
Lamp life may differ from lamp to lamp and according to the environment of use. There is no guarantee of the same lifetime for each lamp. Some lamps may fail or terminate their life in a shorter period of time than other similar lamps.
If the projector indicates that the lamp should be replaced, i.e., if the LAMP REPLACE INDICATOR lights up, replace the lamp with a new one IMMEDIATELY after the projector has cooled down.
( Follow carefully the instructions in the LAMP REPLACEMENT section of this manual. ) Continuous use of the lamp with the LAMP REPLACE INDICATOR lighted may increase the risk of lamp explosion.
A Lamp may explode as a result of vibration, shock or degradation as a result of hours of use as its lifetime draws to an end. Risk of explosion may differ according to the environment or conditions in which the projector and
lamp are being used.
IF A LAMP EXPLODES, THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN.
If a lamp explodes, disconnect the projector's AC plug from the AC outlet immediately. Contact an authorized service station for a checkup of the unit and replacement of the lamp. Additionally, check carefully to ensure that
there are no broken shards or pieces of glass around the projector or coming out from the cooling air circulation holes. Any broken shards found should be cleaned up carefully. No one should check the inside of the projector
except those who are authorized trained technicians and who are familiar with projector service. Inappropriate attempts to service the unit by anyone, especially those who are not appropriately trained to do so, may result in an
accident or injury caused by pieces of broken glass.

It is an indication that the projector is in sleep mode. Press power button and check for any changes on the led indicators. If the power turns red, it means unit is hot. check if the fan is working and if the air filter is clean or needs cleaning. If the lamp turns red it means the lamp is busted, You will experience this since lamp is clearly blown. But if both lights are red, it means that the unit is busted and will require service.

I have a NEC mt1055 and the unit just had new bulb put in here and it has the power and standby light come on and the fan doesn't turn on here and the standby light is yellow and status is red

The NEC’s work on a reducing time basis, they count the hours that they have been operational and refer to this as the life of the bulb – 1600 hours. When the 1600 hours has been reached the projector shuts itself down into standby mode never to be restarted even after changing the bulb / filters. This is because the unit needs to be reset, which needs to be done as follows (not included in any of the bulb replacement instructions):-
  • Plug Projector in so it is in standby mode – Orange light lit, Red status light lit (not flashing)
  • Using the remote control, hold down the power off button for 30-45 seconds
  • This will reset the status button, removing the red light
  • Power up the projector and select Menu
  • Select Projector Options
  • Select Set-up – a number of tabs will appear called pages
  • Arrow across the pages (MT850 is Page 5) until an option called “RESET LAMP HOURS” is shown
  • Move onto this option and press enter on the projector itself, confirm that you want to reset the counter
  • Projector is now back to life

This works for all NEC projectors, the page number may be different though where the “RESET LAMP HOURS” option resides.

Canon LV-S1 New bulb but won't power up

Have you cleaned the filters? In this situation, the fan and power shuts down even before the bulb lights up and heats up the unit, but perhaps the unit can detect clogged filters.

You can download the manual here if you don't have one. Instructions for cleaning the filters are on page 37.

Sharp projector XV Z90U

I also had this issue - followed the On, Input, Undo, Left, Enter, Right, On button sequence several times. Then I decided to push them in that sequence very quickly and it worked. The lamp LED on the front changed to green and the projector started up. So the button sequence they provide in the manual works, you just have to push them in rapid succession. Hope that helps.
