  1. Reset your All in One product:
    • Remove the power supply for ten seconds and then, reinsert the power cord and turn on the printer again.
    • Print a basic self test page.
  2. Clean the paper path:
    • Take a look inside the printer to determine the side on which the carriage is located (left or right).
    • If situated on the right, make sure there is no obstruction and then, move the carriage all the way to the left side.
    • If situated on the left, make sure there is no obstruction and then, move carriage all the way to the right side.
    • If located in the middle, ensure there are no obstructions. Then, move the carriage first all the way in one direction and then all the way to the opposite direction. Please do not apply too much pressure.
    • Remove the rear access door from the back of your unit. Check for and remove any paper still in the printer.
    • Replace the rear access door and close your unit top cover.
    • Re-connect the power cable only. If the unit does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
    • If the Power light is on and steady, print a self test page.
  3. Plug your All in One product directly into another power outlet:
    • Remove the unit power cable from any power strip or surge protectors and plug it directly into a grounded wall outlet
    • Try printing again.

While printing 2 or 3 lines it shows paper jam message. Can't print even a page!!!

make sure you don't have any small pieces of paper stuck in the printer s.gif s.gif s.gif
Paper jams can be real or false. The unit may report a paper jam when there is not any jammed paper, however, the solution to a real paper jam or a false paper jam is the same. WARNING: Jammed paper must be removed using the rear access door and the power cord must be disconnected or a carriage jam or mechanical damage may occur. Do not remove jammed paper from the front of the unit.
  1. Turn off the HP product and turn it so the back of the unit faces you.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. The power cord must be disconnected to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely.
  3. Locate and open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab and then pulling the door toward you. Figure 1: Removing the rear access door c00108288.jpg Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door.
  4. Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door. Click How to buy on this page to order replacement parts.
  5. From the rear access door opening, remove the jammed paper.
  6. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
  7. Reinstall the rear access door.
  8. Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on. If a carriage stall occurs after clearing the paper jam, resolve the carriage stall.

What is Error Code 5100 please

I asked around and this error ..its also instruct you to turn off and on the printer ..it is a warning for an obstruction in the printing process ...most of the times the obstruction having mechanical origins..So look around for sliding parts and in general parts that suppose to move in a certain pattern and now are blocked or not well lubricated or something is blocking them ..

It shows service error 5100 & doesn;t print

Error 5100 is Carriage error.Possible problems in:
- Carriage unit
- Timing **** strip film
- Logic board assembly
- Carriage motor
First, make sure there is no paper jam anywhere in the machine.. look inside, rear, where the paper tray (output) is, etc to see if you find any shreds or torn paper that may have gotten stuck and you didn't see.Look carefully in the zone of Purge unit, using flashlight in the right side on printer. If this not help your printer need service.

Carriage jam

Step 1: Move the carriage to the center manually if necessary If the carriage is stuck on the right or left side of the product, follow these steps to move the carriage to the center of the product.
Step 2: Check for a broken carriage chute
The carriage chute is the side wall of the carriage that holds a curved metal piece (the x-bias spring). A broken carriage chute might cause the carriage jam condition.
Step 3: Turn the product off and on again
Step 4: Clear any paper jam.
Step 5: Make sure that the control panel faceplate is correctly installed
Step 6: Plug the All-in-One directly into a wall outlet
Step 7: Perform a partial reset
Step 8: Print a self-test page

Step 9: Service the product. Now this model is outdated as per HP website.

its the carriage jam..probably main board timing!
I have two printers here with same problem...the white plastic flag is jamming the carriage (therefore, carriage stall)...
its not the power supply..the white flag is popping out at the wrong time.
I am ordering a main board for one of the printers, to see if its a timing problem.
