Question about Olympus Camedia D-550 Zoom Digital Camera
Hi there :) There is some kind of black inclusion in the LCD screen and when I disassembled the camera to see if I could remove the inclusion, I didn't pay close enough attention to the order in which the pieces came off. I have 2 white strips, two black and clear strips and one metal cover. Does anybody have a service guide or know the order in which to replace these pieces? The display right now is white with different colored lines on it. Thank you Lisa
Just in Time for Christmas then!
So decisions - live with out the screen- it appears to be a connexion failure or a main board failure.
Or replace the camera - a repair will cost almost as much.

Easy, remove the 9 screws that hold the rear case and pull the case apart,.remember there are 4 screws under the hotshoe base and 4 under the memory door and one under the USB cover. You need to pry and slide the hotshoe base back with a slim screwdriver and youll see 4 screws, remove the rear ones. There will be 2 ribbon cables attached to the rear case, the LCD and the buttons. These pull out carefully with gentle pressure. The LCD can be removed with screws and another ribbon cable connector that needs to be unclipped and then removed. replace LCD, Put it back together and make sure the ribbon cables are fully seated. Good to go.

SOURCE: Olympus Evolt 510 LCD Issue.
I purchased a olympus evolt 510 - having problems taking picture in the dark. The camera will take 30 second to focus and sometimes will not take a picture at all. Also I find when I am in doors the camera will take a substantial amount of time to focus on an object this is specifically when the flash is in use. The flash seems to be adjusting flickering constantly. Seriously Annoying.
If you can be some assistance I would deeply appreciate it.

Sounds as if this may be a repair issue with the camera. You may want to call Olympus customer service to discuss their repair policy. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

SOURCE: card cover open
The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor that is on the card cover door. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.aspOlympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $124 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.
