Help in replacing Digital Screen

Hi there :) There is some kind of black inclusion in the LCD screen and when I disassembled the camera to see if I could remove the inclusion, I didn't pay close enough attention to the order in which the pieces came off. I have 2 white strips, two black and clear strips and one metal cover. Does anybody have a service guide or know the order in which to replace these pieces? The display right now is white with different colored lines on it. Thank you Lisa

Just in Time for Christmas then!
So decisions - live with out the screen- it appears to be a connexion failure or a main board failure.
Or replace the camera - a repair will cost almost as much.

SOURCE: How to replace LCD monitor/screen in an Olympus C5050 camera

Easy, remove the 9 screws that hold the rear case and pull the case apart,.remember there are 4 screws under the hotshoe base and 4 under the memory door and one under the USB cover. You need to pry and slide the hotshoe base back with a slim screwdriver and youll see 4 screws, remove the rear ones. There will be 2 ribbon cables attached to the rear case, the LCD and the buttons. These pull out carefully with gentle pressure. The LCD can be removed with screws and another ribbon cable connector that needs to be unclipped and then removed. replace LCD, Put it back together and make sure the ribbon cables are fully seated. Good to go.

SOURCE: Olympus Evolt 510 LCD Issue.

I purchased a olympus evolt 510 - having problems taking picture in the dark. The camera will take 30 second to focus and sometimes will not take a picture at all. Also I find when I am in doors the camera will take a substantial amount of time to focus on an object this is specifically when the flash is in use. The flash seems to be adjusting flickering constantly. Seriously Annoying.

If you can be some assistance I would deeply appreciate it.

The problem you are describing is a problem with a sensor that is on the card cover door. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service. will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $124 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

Initially, let's try a hard reset by removing the battery. Let it be without batteries for a couple of minutes to about an hour. Thereafter re-insert battery and try again. Additionally, pls verify that the battery is fully charged

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

I need a new lcd screen for my fuji finepix s700, where can I find one??? My lcd screen on my Fuji film S5800 has stopped working. it is white with stream line colours through it. Can someone please help.

Sounds like your LCD screen is broken. Did you drop the camera? You may be able to find a screen or a broken same model camera with a good screen on eBay. Changing it out, however is NOT for the faint of heart. You will need tiny tools to work on tiny parts with very small electrical connections, a steady hand and nerves of steel with a service manual at your fingertips so that you disassemble only what is needed in the correct order and don't do additional damage. Still want to try it? I recommend taking it to a reputable camera store and getting a quote to repair it. Weigh that cost against the cost of replacing the camera. In the meantime, switch over to the Electronic View Finder. Good luck. (FYI: I will undertake the repair of anything short of a nuclear device, but I will not try a digital camera of any kind.)

Need to replace LCD screen

SOLUTION FOR V803 ONLY - DAMAGED SCREEN It would appear you have a damaged LCD screen. The same problem happened to my daughter's V803. The camera will take pictures fine but you will only be able to see them if you download them onto a PC. A replacement screen can be easily ordered and replaced. Call Eastman Kodak. Their parts department can be reached at (800) 431-7278 ext 3. Tell them the model number of your camera and tell them you want to order a LCD screen for it. The cost of the new screen is $31.00 + $15.00 shipping. Don't let them talk you into sending it back for repair. You are looking at a repair bill over $80.00. To replace the screen, remove all of the small philips head screws that are in the chrome band that runs around the center ridge of the camera. After removing the screws, you will be able to separate the rear half of the camera from the front half. The LCD screen is pressed into a rubber gasket in the rear half of the camera. You will see that there is a small, flat orange ribbon cable that connects the old LCD screen to a black connector on the camera's motherboard1.gif. Using a VERY small flat blade screw driver, pry up the top tab on black connector. This will unlock1.gif the connector and allow you to remove the flat ribbon cable from the black connector. Remember the orientation of the old screen and its cable as you will want to replaced the new screen and cable exactly the way the original was installed. Using the same small flat blade screw driver, pry out the old display. Install the new display into the rubber gasket into the back half of the camera. Insert the ribbon cable into the mother board's black connector and press down on the panel to lock the cable into place. Lay the rear half of the camera face down on the table (rear buttons facing down) and place the front half of the camera over top of the rear half. This will allow you to put the camera back together and help prevent the new LCD screen from falling back out. The LCD screen has pads attached to the surface behind it. When you reinstall the front half of the camera, those pads help hold the LCD screen in place with pressure from the motherboard. Replace all of the screws. If you did it correctly, the camera will operate like new. Last word of advice. Buy a padded hard shell case for this camera. These cameras are well known for LCD screen failures due to shocks and drops.

Good Luck!
