WEN 6014: Motor is running, but chain doesn't move. Chain sprocket seems fine, cogs are only slightly worn, sprocket fits perfectly, no wear. Is there an internal clutch or connector? Motor worn out?

There is a clutch behind the metal housing where the chain sprocket at the engine end attaches to the chain . There are wear parts with springs on them that have to be changed. ChainSaw Shed Chain Saw Parts for Wen Wagner Brand Chain Saws Chains Bars... You can get parts here.

3003 008 8921 will start but the chain will not spin.

1. Check that the sprocket on the bar tip actually turnas and is free from obstruction.
2. Check chain tension is not too tight.
3. Check that you have taken the chain brake off. (pull the front hand guard back until it clicks)
4. If you have checked all the above, check the clutch.

Chain on partner 370 chainsaw is permanently engaged so when I start it it is spinning. I think it may be a clutch problem?

Iether the clutch spring has broken, or become weak, or simply the sprocket bearing is dry and need greasing, either way you need to remove the clutch and sprocket, there is a special tool to remove the clutch part no. 530031112, this is a pin spanner that fits into the two cut a ways in the clutch centre so as to jar it off against compression with a 19mm spanner.

Poulan chain saw how to get old chain drive sprocket off.

You'll have to stop the crankshaft from moving. The easiest way to do this is to take the spark plug out, pull the starter rope out a little ways, and stuff some of it into the spark plug hole. Spin the sprocket until it stops turning, that will put the piston at the top where it can't pass TDC and stops the crank. Turn the sprocket until it comes off then put your new one on.

Without it, the sprocket spins so fast it would melt all the plastic around the sprocket(seen it)

Have a Stihl 310 chainsaw and the sprocket will not spin freely. Can't turn it by hand, so I removed the e-clip but can't get the sprocket to come off. Any suggestions

Grasp the forward most upper handle and pull it aft. I t may require some additional force at the rear extreme when you disengage and latch the chain brake.

My electric chainsaw used to carve ice, chain stops while motor still spins when cutting ice

Is there some form of tensioner for the chain or do you believe it's the drive sprocket?Gas chainsaws have a bolt you can tighten which takes up the play in the chain. The drive sprocket is either on a key-way or clutch.I would remove the chain and check the drive sprocket. There must be a clutch to allow the motor to free spin until a given RPM would drive the chain. That clutch is suspect. You didn't give any information(make or model of chainsaw)that I could use to search for an answer for you.Try to work on that clutch,re-post if you need more help.
