Question about Dacor Preference RV36 Kitchen Hood

1 Answer

Control buttons inconsistent

The control buttons appeared to have become worn out. They do not work unless you press very hard and hold for some length of time, however this is still not a consistent method. I replaced the keypad board under the buttons and the new board did the exact same thing. I am wondering what is the next avenue of repair/attack? Thank you.

I had the same problem with the buttons, and now the vent does not operate at all. Have not replaced anything....yet.

I have the exact same problem. My buttons require a great dal of pressure to work. I tried the high speed fan tonight and pushed so heard the hood went down into the counter and now won't come up at all. It seems like the grease from cooking must get into the buttons and make them inoperable. I've replaced the buttons once at great cost and am about to try it it myself. Just need to find the part. Stinky design, but when it works it's great.

I've got a Dacor PRV30 that's about 13 years old, and have been fiddling with the erratic buttons problem for a few years now. I had been able to repair it (I thought) by cleaning the buttons and the underlying circuit board with alcohol, but now it's developed a new problem. Cleaning with alcohol doesn't seem to fix the problem anymore, but it seems to be related to some positioning of the wire cable that leads down from the circuit board to the main control unit. At the moment, I can't get the buttons to operate, and the LED under the buttons doesn't work, depending on fiddling with the cable. (By the way, I replaced the main control unit board 1.5 years ago due to a burned out electronic component).

I'm debating about whether to replace the rubber button pad (seems unlikely that will fix it), the underlying circuit board (but how is that replaced? I haven't found a way to get to where that cable connects down to the main control board), or perhaps replacing the whole unit (is 13 years about the lifespan of this kind of device?)

    Any advice appreciated.

Usually the buttons themselves are the problem. The little contacts on them that connect the gold terminals on the board you replaced get dirty or wear out. If you are not getting any erratic operation (up and down on its own or locking itself in child lock etc. ) then I'd bet you just need a row of buttons to go with your new board. just as a note, the control boards down below are quite failure prone, so if you are getting any other weird operation, i would suspect that instead. they have redesigned the entire board to be more reliable, if that tells you anything. Hope this helps.

Speed is inconsistant, spray it with deoxit. still will not hold speed. Whats the best way for the spray to get into the pots?

It might not be anything to do with the pots. Speed problems can be caused by the circuit controlling the voltage. If there is a voltage regulator transistor or IC they can go faulty. The motor itself can also get dirt on it's contacts, or become so worn that they make erratic contact.

Fn button for volume in Lenovo g560 don't appear mark of increase or decrease ,, as i install new version of win 7 ,, and same case in brightness

Make sure you Press and Hold the FN key then hit the key that increases or decreases the volume. If the FN key is not held down while you press the volume keys, they will do nothing. The brightness works the same way, you must Press and Hold the FN key then hit the key that controls the brightness.

Ugh.. That is a formatter software issue. Try these resets
arrwup.gif Log Initialization

This step will delete any print or copy job that is in process, and then perform a reboot.

To execute: simultaneously press and hold the 1, the Stop, and the Power Save buttons on the Control Panel while switching on the power. Hold the buttons down until the boot up screen (5 circles) appears and the second circle starts to blink.
arrwup.gif Spool Initialization

This step will delete all pending print or copy jobs in the job queue, and then perform a reboot.

To execute: simultaneously press and hold the 6, the Stop, and the Power Save buttons on the Control Panel while switching on the power. Hold the buttons down until the boot up screen (5 circles) appears and the second circle starts to blink.
arrwup.gif HDD Initialization

This step will delete all pending print or copy jobs in the IOT job queue (DC 3535: does not delete any job data stored in the Network Controller), initializes the IOT HDD (refer to ADJ 9.8 for details), and will and then perform a reboot. All customer data on the HDD will be deleted.

To execute: simultaneously press and hold the 4, the Stop, and the Power Save buttons on the Control Panel while switching on the power. Hold the buttons down until the boot up screen (5 circles) appears and the second circle starts to blink.
arrwup.gif ESS NVM Initialization caution.gif CAUTION

This routine will set all IOT ESS NVM values to default. Do not attempt this procedure unless there is a known-good Machine Settings floppy, an accurate Configuration Report and/or other data that will enable you to reload the correct NVM values for this machine.

This step will initialize the IOT ESS NVM (SYS-System and SYS-User) and then perform a reboot.

To execute: simultaneously press and hold the 3, the Stop, and the Power Save buttons on the Control Panel while switching on the power. Hold the buttons down until the boot up screen (5 circles) appears and the second circle starts to blink.

If these do not work the system software needs reloaded or the ESS network board needs to be replaced.

Need instructions on a hard reset

On your handheld, launch the Prefs application. Under General, select Security.

If the Password box says "Unassigned," tap the box and create a password for your handheld.

Once the password has been set, remove the stylus. Disconnect your handheld from the AC charger, if connected.

On your handheld, hold down the Power button.

While holding down the Power button, use the stylus to press the RESET button on the back of your handheld.

  1. While still holding the Power button, the screen will show the Palm logo and a progress bar. Then the circular Palm Powered logo will appear. Release the power button when you see the Palm Powered logo.

  2. A message will appear warning that you are about to erase all the data stored on your smartphone. Press UP.
  3. You'll see a series of Palm logo screens, then a prompt to tap onscreen targets. The Factory Reset is complete

My ipod is disableb because my little brother kept putting in the wrong pass code and i dont know how to fix it

Try a soft reset and hard reset your iPod Touch if it’s frozen or not responding.
Try a soft reset first:
1. Press and hold theSleep/Wake button on the top of the unit until a red slider appears
2. Drag the slider.
3. Press and hold theSleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If a soft reset doesn’t work, try a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I need calibrate Tissot t-touch

Syncronisation sequence is in the user manual. syncronisation is as follows.. 1) Press T to activate touch system. 2)touch the screen centre to show units display. 3)hold T button for approx 5 secs till the hands point to 12o clock. 4)use the + & - buttons to control the minute and hour hands... you must syncronise them both to 12 oclock exactly. 5)when you have them both pointing to 12 exactly, press the T button to finish the sync. the hands will now go back to the time. If the hands often go out of sync, the battery is probably worn and will at some stage the 'bat' warning will appear. (this initially only flashes every 20 secs, so watch the display for over 20 secs to see the 'bat' warning. eventyually this becomes permanant display). Batteries normally last about 6 years
