SOURCE: Removal instructions for close caption

If you are hooked up to a cable receiver, the closed caption must be disabled in the cable receiver. With most cable receivers the closed caption must either be on or off and there is not cc button on the remote.

Above pretty much says it. The "Caption" function under "Option" is greyed out. Can someone tell me how to "ungrey/activate the closed caption option?

If the closed caption is shaded out in the menu, this usually means closed caption is not an option. Closed caption can not be turned on if the TV is on component, RGB, DVI, Or HDMI inputs. The closed caption will need to be turned on by using the set-top box or other device that is connected to TV inputs. or if the tv is connected directly to the cable line or anteanna

How do i get audio description of my tv

Check your menu settings. Look for CC1 or closed caption on mute.

That way when the volume is off closed captioning will turn on.
Some tv's have a setting to turn on closed captioning (possibly cc2) that will allow closed captioning while volume is still on.

LG televison

It sounds like you have full screen closed caption turned on. Turn of closed caption and that should clear it up.
