Hi,

Initially, the standby light or the red light flashing indicating that the unit has switched to protection mode., the unit in its self diagnosis has detected a fault. In order not to extend the damage, the unit prevents itself from turning on. Eventually the unit has to be opened up for a look and see. This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional or claim warranty repair.

Incidentally, in the hope that this is a simple glitch, perhaps you can try unplugging from the mains and removing all connectors. After an extended period, reconnect and verify connections and try again.

Additionally, was there anything out of the ordinary prior to the incident such as power failure/interruptions, thunderstorm, TV used for an extended period pf time, the remotes has been inadvertently played with, or anything noteworthy.

Or have you tried just running the Panasonic with all eternal devices others removed specially HDMI connections?

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Here is a list of the problems that might have occurred indicated by the number of blinks. The words in parentheses are those which you will see for each of these faults on a diagnosis screen described later in this article. Unit is dead and there are no blinks---- Problem in the standby power section. Might check fuse, R607, Q601, IC601, R612 and VDR601 (should show open). Continuous blink once a second, No pausing as discussed above---- No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground or held high), IK video path is defective.

1)One blink---- not used for the self-diagnosis.

2)Two blinks---- B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

3)Three Blinks---- B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit, check T603 and R672.

    4) Four Blinks---- No vertical deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted. Check IC1509, Q1505.

    5) Five Blinks---- AKB circuit (AKB), the timer/ standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board. Also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. Also, unit can be in IK blanking. Try turning up screen slightly.

6)Six blinks---- No horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately. Check C515 and 516 and the jungle IC, IC206.

    7) Seven blinks---- High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.

8)Eight blinks---- Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code. Check IC406 audio amp, PS401 and 402.

How can I connect my xbox 360 with on a Panasonic TH-42PX60U

It depends on what type of Video connector you have with the Xbox, if you have Yellow white and red then it would go into the video input and put your TV in Video mode., If you have Blue red and green, it is use for component input, and you put your TV in component mode,,(HD)

Panasonic TH-42PX60U plasma TV: red blinking light

are you using a PC to feed a signal or maybe a cable with an adapter?
I had the same issue when I used one of the rear HDMI ports to show a PC display. Apparently there is a software difference between the rear and side/front ports. Inputting the PC through the side HDMI port has solved the problem for me (so far!)

TH-42PX60U red light blinks 10 times wont come on

On a Panasonic TV the 10-blink error code can sometimes be caused by low voltage running through an HDMI cable, particularly from a Media PC or some video game consoles. Try disconnecting any HDMI cables and unplugging the Television for 30 seconds, then power it on without the cables attached.

If this works, connect the cables to the front panel (usually HDMI-3) which uses a different controller board.
