I imagine You are using PAINT to do this because you assume it's simple or free? I have found PAINT to be difficult and largely uncooperative. I'd fix this by recommending you try GIMP. It is a lot easier and totally free. GNU is your friend, no really.

Try http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

It's the next best thing to Photoshop, but it's absolutely free. No tricks because it's made by people like us who believe in FOSS (Free and Open Source Software).

Tips for Picking Paint Colors: If you don’t think you’re a very creative person...

    Tips for Picking Paint Colors:

If you don’t think you’re a very creative person but want to paint your house or even just a room, you might be feeling overwhelmed by the challenge of picking a color! Don’t panic – here are some top tips for helping you choose a great color scheme for your painting project.

1.Use the color wheel. Don’t be afraid to take a look at the color wheel – it’s not just for decorators to show off to their customers with. You can ask someone in a paint shop to explain to you how primary, secondary and tertiary colors work together (or sometimes against each other).

2.Try and decide what kind of ‘energy’ and brightness you want in the area you are painting. Is it a lounge that you want to be cosy? Or a bedroom that’s modern and bright? It really helps to visualize the end result.

3.Are you hoping to your space look bigger or a large room cozier? If so, you can use color to help you. Small spaces will benefit from pale, cool colors and larger areas can be made to feel more intimate with warm, darker colors.

4.Watch out for lighting issues. Natural daylight shows the color in its truest way whereas fluorescent lights cast more of a blue tone over the overall color. So make sure you pay attention to the lighting issues around the area you are painting.

5.If you want to play it safe you can always go for neutral colors. These are colors that don’t stand out but you can use furniture and decorations to really add the splashes of color while keeping the walls in more subtle neutrals.

Have fun! You can always paint really small areas to see how it looks on the wall. And try to be bold – you’ll probably be surprised with how good it looks.

What is a paint stick?

Paint sticks offer a different way to work with oil paint. Rather than using a brush, you hold the paint stick in your hand to create different lines or textures than you could with a brush.

How to re-paint scaped and scuffed car bumpers and fenders

In my experience, it's good to get paint that is matched to the original manufacturer's color from a place like NAPA auto parts.

Ask about the 'flex' agent as well, as many bumpers are made of plastic which will need it for a satisfactory result.

Then, get an air brush or detail paint gun and an air compressor (small) that can power it.

Sand the affected area with coarse down to fine sandpaper until relatively smooth.

Spray grey or red primer on the masked off area.

Fill the canister with paint and spray the scuffed and scraped bumpers or fenders.

You can paint small areas outside or in a large dust free garage, or preferably in a paint booth that has down draft ventilation.

Wear proper apparel for painting when you do this.

New paint can fill many cracks on several coats.

I am trying to paint my bathroom and give it a spa or warm inviting color. however i need to match it up with the shower curtain i bought. it is mostly a solid cream/badge color. with the boarder brown...

You will have to get the paint and required colors from the nearest hardware store dealing in paints and spray colors. You will have to provide the sample of color which you require. So they will give you the exact matching color which you require. thanks.

I have some chips on a Findlay cookstoves enamel. It is old and the enamel is light green.Any ideas where I may find something to touch it up?

There are several brand of touch-up enamel paint for appliances. Krylon for example, it's carried by a wide variety of retailers such as Home Depot, K-Mart, Sears and Walmart.

You can also get it at store that specialize in paint like Sherwin Williams. They might also be able to give you the best match to your color. If not you can try appliance stores. They may be able to give you a good match. The only other option is to match it yourself. The best way to to that is to get some color card examples from a paint store or hardware like Home Depot and find the best match. Now get a list of the colors that they use to mix it. Ask if you can get a very small amount of the colors used in the mix and using trial and error mix it yourself.

You can also try mixing it to get your color using enamel auto touch-up paint.

There really is no source for old appliance touch-up paint so it will never be perfect but with a little trial and error you can get pretty close.
Hope this helps you out.

Prep before painting:
  • Sand the damaged area lightly with fine-grit sandpaper. Roughen the area to be painted and remove any rust, but avoid sanding the surrounding surface.

  • Clean the area thoroughly with a rag dampened with paint thinner. Let dry.
  • Paint over scratches with appliance touch-up paint, using the bottle's applicator brush or another fine-tip paintbrush. Let dry overnight.
There will be issues with areas that are exposed to high heat so be prepared to repeat when necessary.

Paint had gone on surrounding the clock area

You can get spray paint in stores. Here is the kicker. Generally speaking Ovens and stoves have a baked on finnish. The problem is going to be getting a (And this is the key words) "High Heat" paint that matches the color of your stove. Most paint stores have "High Heat" in black red or silver to paint Bar B Q's with. However most do not have a multitude of colors that kitchen appliances come in. If your stove is one of those colors then problem solved go to the local paint store and pick it up. If not try looking at automotive paint stores for the similar color. In an automotive store you will look in the isle for Engine paint. If you can not find a paint that matches the color in High Heat, you could try an appliance epoxy. The thing is that is usually used on refridgerators, washers, dryers etc and not recomended for stoves. Try a small spot and monitor it. If it begins to peel my recomendation would be replace the stove as coatings beyond that will start to become more pricey than a new range.

How to cut curled hair

I prefer Arcsoft studio, it came free with my scanner.
It is much easier to use for selecting areas, including
an intensity/hue matching Magic selection tool.

The automatic selection tool creates an approximate selection
border (Exact is virtually impossible). Once you have it, you
can zoom-in and then add or subtract areas for a better fit.
You can also easily invert, expand, shrink or smooth the selection polygon to get near perfect results.

The entire process should take about 10 minutes per image,
depending on complexity. I have once isolated over a hundred
animation puppets from a book that way.

Once you have created a perfect selection fence/polygon,
make sure that you have chosen the correct side of the
selection (inside/outside using the selection invert function),
and then use the fill/spill tool to fill the unselected area with
a repeatable solid (primary) color, that does NOT occur in
other parts of the image.

To do this correctly, set the FILL tool tolerances at max.,
since the fence controls what gets painted, not the underlying
color.

Save the new image under a different file name.

You can now use the solid background color as a
"color key" or a mask for special effects or image
mixing. You may need several masks, positive and
negative to get the job done (using boolean logic)

e,g. image or black = image, ... etc.

Martin

PS another good tool that is astronomically cheaper
than photo shop is LView.
