I think I may need a new drain pump but would like to check old pump first.
The problem I have is how do you get the covers off to get at the parts cover seems to be in one piece. I have fixed many washers over the years for me and my kids but have never had a problem getting covers off.

Sounds like a split cabinet. There are screws behind the plastic caps at side of machine.remove lid and remove screws to rear of split on both sides and at bottom rear of machine. tease out plastic frame holding mains cable and the back end can now be removed.

Story could be lengthly so in brief, check to see if drain pump is not blocked and if door latch is functioning correctly.(use a multimeter if you can). If it all measures out as good, then your control is faulty. Does the water fill up to the correct level when you start the cycle? Does the motor hum when trying to run. If so check the capacitor.
Hi, this problem is caused by the recirculation pump which has either gone faulty or has been clogged up by to much washing powder/liquid! you will need to strip the machine top off first then the rear and the pump is located at the rear of the machine (depending on model ) it is easy to spot as it is the only one that has the hose attached to the pump which leads to the door seal. take it off check for blockages in the pump and pipe and hose if no blockage then replace pump. It will then work like new.........!
check no foreign object stuck in pump impellor and that it turns freely. if that is ok then check continuity thro drain pump. if no muiltimeter, try connecting drain pump to mains direct to see it works
The ball is part of the system. They float up when there is water in the washer and as it drains if go's down. It sounds to me you must have a blockage somewhere, if you know the pump is operating in the drain cycle. If your sure there is no blockage and the ump is working I would replace the pump. On electric pumps they may work but if the impeller is worn from something that got into the pump it will spin but not pump the water out. Hope this helps you.
