The battery was changed in our 2002 Holden Astra, and now when we try to use the radio or CD player, the display shows: CODE and we can't use either.
The manual we have says we need an extra leaflet that was apparently included within the manual, however we no longer have it. I have found out how to input the code, however I don't know the actual code.
Any help appreciated.
Many thanks.
SOURCE: code for cd player in holden astra
First make sure that the code has not been noted somewhere
within the car (underneath the ash tray, glove box , rear of sun visor etc)
To see if your code is available here for free then the radio will have to be
removed from the dashboard (and if you are lucky, someone may have written the
code on the casing ) .
If not then POST ANOTHER QUESTION
quoting the radio
MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on ANY LABELS ,BARCODES or STAMPED IN
THE METAL CASING
Also quote the MAKE of CAR
note: Unfortunately not all radios can be decoded using the
Serial Number
Otherwise try your Main Dealer ...........or take it into a
Decode Service who will plug in a laptop to read/recode the memory chip
(EEPROM). This takes a few minutes and shouldn`t be too expensive

I spoke to Holden, who told me I had to go to the nearest Holden dealer with proof of ownership and then they would charge me for the extreme effort of getting the security code out of the computer. Screw that. I'll be buying a new stereo. I don't suggest anyone pays for any car manufacturer to call up your details on computer to give you a code they should have given to you in the manual - and not an attached leaflet as ours was - in the first place.
