I have a dell latitude c840 which did work fine. However when i try to turn it on it says "no bootable device available". if i keep turning it on and then off again, sometimes after about 30 minutes windows loads up and i can use it like normal.
Your Hard Drive is failing. If it comes on again, back up your data to an external drive and then proceed with replacing it. Its physical location is on the righ hand side of the laptop behind the two one-and-half inches long drawer type bey (colocated with the infrared sensor window).
You probably have changed it by now. I am reading your post on Jan 17, 2009.

can you connect using wireless? if so you need to go to the dell site and download the latest drivers for your ethernet card, you can also go to control panel>system>device manager, and see if the drivers are installed
Whne you double click on the mouse in device manager, does it say "device not configured" or "unable to start this device". If it says "unable to start this device" try the mouse on a different computer to make sure it works properly. If it does then you probally have a software driver problem. Try contacting the mouse manufacturer or see if you can down load drivers from their site.
