Sharp Fax FO 5500
When faxing, the document feeder feeds all the pages normally. When all pages have feed, it keeps trying to feed more. The roller turns as if there is paper in the feeder. It stops after the transmission has completed.

• Check the connection. The cord from the TEL.LINE jack to the wall jack should be no longer than six feet. • Make sure there are no modem devices sharing the same telephone line. • Check with the other party to make sure their fax machine is functioning properly. • Have your telephone line checked for line noise. • Try connecting the fax machine to a different telephone line. • If the problem still occurs, your fax machine may need service. Clearing a jammed document If the original document doesn't feed properly during transmission or copying, or DOCUMENT JAMMED appears in the display, first try pressing start/memory . If the document doesn't feed out, remove it as explained below. Important: Do not try to remove a jammed document without releasing it as explained below. This may damage the feeder mechanism.
Your document feed is separate from your received and report prints so that's why your reports are printing ok and the document feeder jams. When you open up the doc feeder and look inside the machine you will see a roller and above it on the cover that opens you will see a rubber pad. Clean both the roller and pad (in fact anything in there that is rubber) with a rubber cleaner, alcohol, or even soap and water on a cloth without it been dripping wet. You will probablt find that they are very dirty. The roller feeds the document in so that needs to be clean and the pad helps to keep all the other docs from feeding in at the same time and that should be very clean so it produces good friction.
Your document feeder should allow you it install a stack of originals, amount depends on machine specifications. Dial one number and send your multi-page document.
if not the feeder tires may need to be cleaned, a few drops of alcohol in the center of a clean piece of paper then run it through the feeder, put the paper in then when it stops press the stop button and it should eject the document, in doing so pass the alcohol past the feed tires. do this a couple of times then try your multi-page document again.
Our problem is not solved. It was suggested the feeder needed cleaning or wasn't working. The feeder works as we make copies of documents. If one is scanning can you feed the document or can you only scan one page at a time by placing it on the window?
