Re: i removed fireware and now i can install the new one
I actually managed to fix the firmware problem the fm is still broken, windows media player 11 (WMP11) won't connect to the zen, you have to revert it back to wmp10 make sure it is connected then install firmware where you can get from creative website, if you search in google it is easier to find. you can unistall wmp11 from this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934372
to be honest i found the answer on this site: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?p=300472&posted=1#post300472

Hello, This is possible. It requires firmware upgrade to disable the FM radio. Follow the directions below link:
Did you get a small piece of single wire with the system. That's the FM antenna. Connect that at the back of the music system labeled FM Ant: and it should solve your problem. Just check in the auto tune mode does the radio stop at the station number correctly and if the stereo indicator light up.
When the player gets stuck, if you put another CD will it play the new CD play for 25 minutes ?. If so try playing the last track of a CD after a cold start. It it does not play the last track on a cold start , you have some physical blockage/damage on the lens rail after half position.
OK this seems to easy a fix for you, but try it.
* In the main menu where it lists your options (and where FM Radio would be) press the 'Menu' button on your Microphoto (bottom right button) and there is an option to 'Configure Menu' and in there should be the option to show FM Radio again. Hope that helps you.
I have a similar, but different problem, so ill list below, maybe it will help someone out.
i also replaced the (broken) 8gb microdrive with 8gb compact flash in my Zen Microphoto, which worked flawlessly! BTW i bought the A-Data 'SPEEDY CF 8GB' from newegg.com.
My FM Radio still shows up, but only gets MONO sound on the Right channel, its very frustrating. i took it all apart again and made sure no connections were loose or broken, but everything seems perfect. i believe it to be a firmware issue, i think ill try to roll back the drivers. im using firmware 1.31.01.
its just annoying to have to roll back to Media Player 10 everytime just to install the firmware and have windows properly communicate with the zen... :[
It’s very easy, first of all you have to check your firmware I think you will be using older virsion so update it by connect your player with PC wile your internet will be connected also & Emodio(Samsung media studio new version)must be installed to your pc it will automatically update your firmware 5.8 & then check in radio option then you will easily know how to record from fm radio & u will also surprise with many more new options like games etc Hope your problem will be solve
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
