This is a common problem that is called a convergence failure. You can google "RCA FL231" or goto www.TvRepairKits.com for a fix

Picture on screen goes out of focus

If attached photos look like what it does it is a convergence problem common in the RCA sets.

Frankly I do not like these sets and if You GOOGLE the model number with "convergence" or "problems" you will a ton of them with that problem.

The real trouble is most sets (even the early RCA) have the convergence circuit almost 100% on one board and use one or two chips for this.

This set has it spread across two or three boards and all the parts are RCA only.

Considering how poorly made that set is I would not if someone gave me one take it or repair it.

The photos will tell you if it is your problem--no two sets look exactly the same but you will know from the pictures if it is your trouble.

I have a 52" rca hdtv. the screen looks like its in 3d. can this be fixed? model# hd52w67

It seem like a convergence trouble. I tink it is a ITC222 chassis in this set. If it is, you probleme is eeprom for convergence need to be reprogrammed and cause no power on convergence board.

Rca p46813bl convergence problem bowed in the

OK., I know this set very well. It almost never has a convergence problem.

With the set unplugged, remove the back cover--there is a small circuit board mounted ABOVE the main boards--it is about 10 inches wide and 4 inches tall---On the far right side of it are several DIODES---two are much larger then the rest--what usually happens is one of the large diodes is shorted--5 dollar part---the board only has a few plugs and 4 screws that hold it in---easy to remove--check all the diodes(the two large ones first)

If either of the large diodes read like a fuse you FOUND YOUR TROUBLE.

LET me know if you need ANY help or Advice--I am here to help people---I have seen several sets identical to yours with the problem you describe.

Not haveing the convergence option on this set is a clear indication you have the fl231 fuse problem. this is a simple repair and i see it all the time at the shop. I would suggest you read the "fl231 fuse problem in the tips and tricks section of this website. others have repaired this for less than 10 dollars and about an hour. if you have any trouble be sure to let me know

Double words and blurred picture,

Is the picture bowed in too. first consult "the fl231 problem" article under the tip and tricks section under my profile. THis MAY be the problem. Otherwise you have a convergence issue. convergence is controled by three cuicit boards in this set. Setting the convergence on this set is tricky. try autoconvergence see how far it gets. let me know and i help you trouble shoot further

Convergence off on Digital Cable

convergence for the rca itc222 is set individually for digital and analog tuner. Most of time the set will have to be converge in service mode. as a tech i would not recommend getting intoservice mode. but the key is the the convergence has to be set indiviadually for each tuner. You could try autoconverging in digital or even manualy converging

Convergence

go to this link and leave them a email with your model number and what symptoms your set is displaying. they will help you determine which part is causing the trouble, and they have any part you would need for your model RCA. Here is the link.

Did you replace the STK convergence IC's yet? If not, thats your trouble, or you have a plug in the wrong place. i doubt if the yolk is bad, as that would most likly blow out the horizontal output transistor and the set would be dead. Good Luck, Please do not forget to rate this thread.
