Well, is it a recycled cartridge or a new one? If it is recycledit's possible that the cip if it has one must be replaced! If the cartridge is the original one/it hasn't been changed before you may have a conatact problem with one of the sensors!

Step 1 Check the top of your Canon fax/copy machine to see if your specific model has a protruding extension piece from the plastic delivery tray. Push the extension piece down if one is present on your model.
Step 2
Grip the bottom edge of the paper delivery tray at the front of the machine. Lift the tray upward to reveal the rectangular, plastic toner cartridge inside the machine.

Out of Toner / Change Toner - Canon image CLASS MF4370dn

The percentage-of-available-toner is based on calculations made by the printer's internal software -- quite different from putting a measuring-stick into an above-ground oil-tank to determine the ACTUAL level.

So, while the calculations say "zero percent left", there still is some toner inside the toner-cartridge, and so it still prints.

Buy a replacement cartridge. When you finally do run-out of toner, install the new cartridge.

Compare it to buying a new quart of milk, and then using the last 1/8 of the quart of the milk currently inside your refrigerator -- use the "old" milk until it is 100% gone, and then switch to the "new" milk.

Taking toner out of l380 fax

1. Remove any documents and/or printed pages from the machine.
2. Make sure the machine is plugged in.
3. Remove the cartridge from the bag. Keep the bag in a safe place for future use.
4. Gently rock the cartridge several times to evenly distribute the toner inside.
5. Hold the cartridge on a flat stable surface with one hand, and break the tab and pull out the seal completely with the other hand.
6. Open the printer cover.
NOTE:
If you are replacing the old cartridge with the new one, remove the old cartridge from the machine. Then, discard the old toner cartridge immediately according to the local laws and regulations for disposal of consumables.
7. Hold the cartridge and position the arrow mark on the cartridge towards the inside of the machine.
8. Align the projections (A) on both sides of the cartridge to the guides (B) in the machine and slide thecartridge completely into the machine. (See diagram below)
9. Close the printer cover.10_16_2012_4_15_57_pm.jpg

My Canon Laser Class 710 fax machine is flashing a red error and the message states ''received in memory'' .. How do I clear it?

You could be out of toner = new toner cartridge.
You could be out of paper = reload paper
You could have a printer problem, paper jam, door open, etc

get the printer part working.

does it print a report if you press the 'report' key?
