If you need to store this data for several years, it's going to be a huge machine.

I solved a similar issue by using a standard PC and fill it with disks, and then run Freenas on it. It's BSD based, gives you NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, FTP, HTTP/WebDAV, Apple, ... connectivity in an open source package, ready to go, easy to manage. it supports doing software Raid 5 with a bunch of disks, so stable and secure. I even lost a disk last week, and replaced it with another one. After 2h the system was 'OK' again...

If you really need huge storage capacity, go for a 'standard' storage server (supermicro for instance) that can store 24 or more disks... You have them in several brands, and the SuperMicro ones aren't that expensive.

Put in a bunch of inexpensive disks (500GB SATA-II disks are really affordable these days) and create a RAID5 array out of all these...

If you want to be even more secure, go with hardware Raid controllers. We use 3Ware/AMCC controllers all the time.

If you got the money, Sun just released a couple of 'Storage Servers' in their 7000 series... Go check them out...

I have a FIA POPNETSERVER 4600 with no Software or Docs HELP!!!

The IP-address probably is provided by a DHCP-server on your network. Login to that DHCP-server, and look at the list of "active" clients, i.e., computers that have obtained an IP-address from the DHCP-server. One of the IP-addresses should be allocated to your FIA box.

Rather than "flatten-and-rebuild", you probably should investigate new software and new hardware to replace it, *BEFORE* it "dies", forcing you into a "panic-repair" situation, i.e., you need a "BCP" (Business Continuation Plan) which proactively addresses the non-availability of your "unmanageable" server.

Network is running out of space.

scary option
move all data off the d drive to x

then change d drive letter to Y:
then when d letter is free change the drive x to D
its dirty but it will work. might need restart but not sure .
if you have loads of data then its more difficult

Volume 'DataVolume' doesn't exist

This is a problem with the HD's, which if you check via the browser, then advanced/storage will show the drives as good but unassigned. Only course of action is to try and totally reboot the unit to default which will lose all your data:-( but If this fails you will need a RMA from WD.

Yellow machine server.

Is it just the fault led, let the machine run for a while and see if it starts rebuilding the drives, if it is NEW and you have just installed the drives and never installed the software then you will get a fault I have the q400t which is the platnum version tho they still call it the p400t if you have just received the server then what u must do is power off the server plug in the netcable into one of the 8 lan ports run the install till it tell's you to turn it on then hit next then follow the instructions to setup the server
