Question about PC Chips M848ALU Motherboard
How to put sata on my mobo? currently im use pc chips (AGP8X <--i do not know whether this is the series of my mobo or not) and it use IDE. So how to put sata on it? what device ive to use?
You need to add a controller card for SATA. These are not expensive. One you might consider is this:
Vantec UGT-ST200 Serial ATA PCI Host Card
It costs about $25, and is available many places, including Tiger Direct, Fry's Electronics, and others. Here is a link to one on the Fry's website. Shop around, you might even find it somewhere else cheaper:
Once you install the card in an empty PCI slot, you install a new SATA hard drive, and cable it to it. It should work fine with your existing PATA drive(s).
