LG 260 Rumor - Unable to read/play music off memory card

I have a 2GB memory card and have downloaded some music to it but the phone doesn't see the mp3's. Why?
I saved it all in the music folder that was there and verified all other folders to no avail. HELP!!!

Worst yet is that there doesn't seem to be a user's manual anywhere in the freaking world for this phone. What is up with that??????

Desperately seeking answers....

Thanking you in advance for your time and help......MC

  • nigelfett13 Mar 21, 2009

My issue is along this line...

I can see the songs on the phone

I can play the songs on the phone

however when I insert earphones (which was painful to find an adaptor that works). the song will play but I cannot hear it. Unplug headseat song is playing.

I went threw the options and cranked the sounds and I can hear the menu selection beeps as I navigate but still no music via headphones.

  • rellik_139 May 11, 2010

your solution #8 does it make the sound go thru the earphones instead of the phone itself or does it just make read the memory card if the phone doesnt already?

I FOUND THE PROBLEM! You need a CoreMicro Micro SD Adapter and the USB that goes with it. Mine said it was right-protected until a person on a website told me to move a white switch upwards on the adapter. Holding the Adapter facing you, make sure the switch on the left side is moved upwards. Put it in the USB port, and then into the computer jack. Go to WMP (windows media player) and go to your library. Right-click any song and click the "go to file location" button. That way you are at the actual file location and not a link to it for playing. You see a list of all the songs you have at the raw source. Make a folder and name it "Music". Drag the songs you want on your phone into the folder. They will disappear from the menu into the folder but not from the computer so you still have the music files on your computer. With the Music file in view, right-click and go to the "Send to" button and click on the "Removable Storage" button (or something that looks similar but the same words). A loading screen should pop up and start loading the files. You are done! Remove the USB and the Adapter, put the memory card in and charge er' up! It worked for me and i hope it works for you. Thanks.

Does your phone detecting your memory card. After inserting your memory card jus browse thru ur folder to check if songs are there in ur memory card. Try to play songs from memory card. also check if it was copied to some other folder.

I worked for hours on this. The answer was simple. For the latest LG Rumor Touch, MP3 format doesn't work, but AAC (iTunes) does.

Dear sir, whenever I try to download music to my HTC wildfire it says your track is downloading but it doesn't do anything. It then says I don't have enough storage space but I have a 2gb SD card...

Hi,

Erase unnecessary data on you phone memory, even you have a lot of space on you SD card, still the phone memory need to maintain enough memory to perform or play the music, check your phone memory free space and save at 2MB and for sure it will gonna play the music.

Did you format the SD card for your phone?
Turn off the phone and seat the SD card. Turn on the Phone and goto menu > settings > tools> memory > card memory > memory usage > options - Format card.

Normally, you cannot set complete songs as a ringtone. go to LG's website and check the manual. Full songs are generally too long to be used as ringtones.

Phone not reading music on LG enV from memory card....

i had the same problem with my original "the v" you may want to check the file type. If you have wma files, you should try converting them to mp3 or vice versa. research to see what file types your phone supports. I had to take mine into the verizon store to have them update the software on my phone to be able to play mp3 files.

Cannot transfer music from memory card to phone,

Before you put your songs and file on your memory card did you first insert the memory card into your phone, and then formatted it?

I have the LG Rumor as well and i haven't figured out a way to make the songs available as a ring tone yet, it only gives me the option of downloading new ringtones, and I can only play my music in the music player ='(

Lg scoop

Simple solution, Alltel belives and enforces digital copyright management, while you can listen to your favorite tones and music, you will NOT be able to use them as ringtones, or use them with any of the features of the phone other then playing the tunes for entertainment. The only way to use files as ringtones is to purchase the files from alltel, or use their realtone jukebox, etc.

Sorry about the news , but welcome to ALLTEL!

Do you have a memory card adapter? If so stick it in the computer, put the music in the appropriate foler 'my_music' and then the phone should be able to read it. Make sure your files are in .mp3 or .wma format
