Philips 50PF7220A powers up, but I get no pic

Nothing seems to work. I get a slight picture (white) and a large power draw but I can't even get the menu to pull up. green light on front panel and a couple of green lights inside the back. I don't have a remote or a cable card. I also powers itself down after 10 minutes. Thanks for any help.

Hi,

This symptoms mostly on picture tube problem. But if you can open your tv please check if thier is a burned resistor/capasitor inside. If you can see a burned part/s then replace it. But if your unit is still covered with warranty then go to its service center..please dont rate me if you are not satisfied with my suggestion. Thanks for usimg Fixya.......

Chip failiar change the board

indicate an over-current condition and high voltage shutdown. The most common cause of this is a bad horixontal output transistor

There's an internal electronic component that is burned. You need to take apart the tv casing and visually check the burned parts. First, check the power supply board then proceed to the convergence circuit. You might as well check the lamps if it's already blown. If you are a bit hesitant to do this stuffs, its either you can claim your warranty where you bought your tv or bring your tv to nearest appliance repair center as your last option.

Well it seems that the unit is not getting the power required by the picturetube, you need a tecnician to get the power supply unit repaired.

Fault with the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Especially to Philips Brand.

Philips 50PF9630A/37 plasma TV will not power on and has a red blinking light - 6 slow flashes then 3 quick flashes . I've been having the issue on and off for about 2 weeks. seems like when I ...

Hi.

The TV is forced in standby because an internal fault has been detected. 6 blinks slow and three fast blinks points at defective Ysus board or defective buffer. The power supply must also be tested. Till now the TV was starting because when you disconnect power you discharge internal components. Some of the components have the role of storing charge (the capacitors). If a capacitor is defective the TV may still work as other components will compensate the function of the faulty part. After a while more components will fail and the TV will not start anymore. To fix the problem the TV must be tested at component level. Testing will start from PSU voltages to YSus and buffer boards.

Regards.

The top half of the set is black, no picture...video card replacement? Where can I find parts?

There are a few possibilities here. Looking at the back with cover removed, on the left side there are 2 long Buffer boards. The top one controls the top 1/2 screen and is likely bad. It can also be the large Y SUS board the the right of these. The Buffers connect to this board. Go to Encompass Parts or Shop Jimmy's and type in your model #. Jimmy's is FAR cheaper. You may go on EBAY once your get the part # from the other places. John

TV wont come on

I just fixed my 50pf7220a phillips last nite....i took the back off and found two bulged capacitors on the power supply board...i tried un soldering them in order to repleace them but could not get them hot enough to melt the solder.....so i called this number (812) 867-7583 to get a new power supply......tell them the model number of the tv and they have the power supplies in stock mine was 129.00...the power supply is the large circuit board near the center of the tv.....its easly to replace....lay the tv screen down on the floor remove the large back ....about 70 screws....look for the slighty bulged capacitors...on the power supply board.....label all of the connectors to the power supply board and make a map of where they go .... remove the 8 screws that hold the power supply board in place.....get the new board and rehook....making sure that all connectors are tight.... please use two people to move this tv its top heavy....good luck if you have questions please post here and i will try to answer.....I am not a tv repairman but just a concerned consumer.....i understand that capacitors will go out once they reach 2000 hours.....

Phillips Plasma Error

That unit is a BP2.2UAA chassis and from the sympotoms you're describing you have a power supply problem. The power supply is an smps (switch mode power supply) Philips p/n# 996500033880 and available at Vance Baldwin for $473.58 plus shipping, which includes a $250.00 core which you can get back when you ship them the old part.
If you buy the supply yourself and attempt the repair it's a simple plug-n-play but you should also check the Y & Z sustain boards for possible shorting.

Screen went out

This sounds to me that you blew a fuse, or something wrong with the mainboard. im no expert, by any means...Have you taken up the courage to open it up? there is about 40 screws, just draw diagrams and such where it goes.. also, there are 2 small screws by where the computer and dhmi digit port are (like your comp at home) AND also the nut on the coax. after this, it's home freee. power is right on top middle. check out my other post for pics of it...Hope this helps!
