Question about Panasonic Palmcorder PV-DV102 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Open Question

My camera won't record and doesn't allow playback!

When I turn on my PV-DV102D palmcorder with a mini DV inside, the camera will eventually shut off after anywhere from 10 seconds to a couple minutes. During this period the word "camera" will not appear in the upper-righthand corner of the lcd screen as it usually does. I pressing the record button seems to have no effect and when I press "play", "rewind", or "fast forward" in VCR mode, nothing happens. The red power light blinks the entire time it is on. When there is no mini DV in the camera, it will go much longer before shutting off and I can still access the menu. I have checked the battery and it is fine. I would greatly appreciate any advice to help me out!

SOURCE: Palmcorder playback question

Use the RCA cables that come with the Palmcorder® to connect the Palmcorder® from "A/V out" to "A/V in" on the VCR. Then change the VCR to line mode.

Panasonic pv-gs15 will not play back recorded video in the mini dv deck. all i see is a blue screen with red text ''picture'' on bottom right corner of the screen

Make sure your tape tab is open. See if this works. Sometimes the tab should be closed to prevent eraser or recording over existing film but sometimes the tape tab has to be open to allow for playback or dubbing?

My screen is striped blue during playback with no soud panasonic palmcorder pv gs15

Your tape has a small latch on it that closes to protect from recording or eraser and opens to allow for playing or dubbing. Slide it open and see what happens.

I had the same problem. In desperation, I picked up my trusty can of compressed air and aimed a few shots into the recorder/playback mechanism. Worked like charm.

Flashing red power light

The problem here is condensation inside the camera. I leave the camera turned off, remove the cassette tape and then point a hair drier on warm or low heat and slow speed right into the innards of the camera through the open cassette tape door. I run the hair dryer for 5 minutes and then replace the cassette. If the camera still dosen't work just wait for another 5 or 10 minutes and then it will work OK.
