The date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every picture in its EXIF metadata. Any photo viewing/editing program should be able to display this data. To print this data, please consult the documentation for whatever program you're using to print your pictures. Depending on the program and printer you may print the date on the image, in the margins, or on the back.
You may continue using the camera without replacing the CMOS battery. You'll have to put up with the opening screen, and the photos you take won't have the proper date/time information if you don't set the clock, but otherwise the camera will operate fine.
Your Sony camera is designed to use only memory stick PRO DUO with maximum memory 8 GB.
It will not accept other memory cards.
If you have been use memory stick pro duo and still request you to re-insert card. Remove your card and re-insert firmly.
Althought you cannot directly shot images with the date printed on top, the date is held in image attributes for each single file taken with your camera.
You can print out the image with dates, or order them in date order using the Picture Motion Browser software originally provided with the camera. You can also ask that the pictures are printed with file date if you ask a print at a local shop.
The internal battery is bad. Contact your local Sony service center, but
if they ask too much, you can contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
and I will give you a good price.
I work in Sony service center.
Many digital cameras have a 2nd disposable battery to remember settings like date and time, and where to put the pictures, when the rechargeable battery is removed,, but I don't believe that is the case with your camera.
possibly you are not actually getting the time set correctly, since
the camera will continue to ask for time & date setting every time the camera starts, if it is not set properly when it asks. Concerning internal memory- Can you transfer the images from internal memory to the memory sick when you do insert it, or is there a chance that the memory stick is defective, and therefore the camera doesn't record to it?
