Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Toshiba 62hm94 Hi Slinteriors, I hope you can help. Im getting a loud humming noise in the left rear as if somewhere by the fan or light itself. It started as a quick zap before turning on and has gotten progressively louder and harder to start the TV at all. It will try to power up and it will zap violently (now for quite some time) and cycle off and on attempts for many zapping cycles before it eventually turns on. Once it is on, it runs fine with no problems except an occasional text and black box scribble on the bottom of the screen every blue moon. If I go to PIP on and off it fixes it immediately so its no big deal. I was just curious if that is related to my major issue. Again, any help is appreciated!

How would I fix a connection issue. Do I need to order parts or just crack it open and make sure everything is connected right?

    Thanks

Sounds like a connection issue between the lamp and ballast.

Hi:
CHeck for open line fuse you may of had a surge that blew the fuse especially when there is no power indication at all. IF no fuses are blown on the power supply then suspect a faulty power supply circuit.

I have a 44 inch 44nhm84 DLP. When the TV is turned on, it makes a loud humming noise that goes down in intesity twice and then finally a lesser humming noise after the picture comes on. At first I thought...

This does sound like a color wheel. To my knowlege, Toshiba does not sell the Color Wheel seporately. In short, you have to replace the Opical Block. The cost of this is very exspensive and Toshiba may not sell it to you. You may have to go through a Toshiba Service facility to obtain it. Check prices of new LCD sets before investing the money.
Hope this helps,

Humming sound coming from tv

I've already paid for the premium service and yet did not get any support. Why would you advertise online chat support when your experts will not assist. I think it will be a good website if it operated as advertised, unfortunately it doesnt. I am very disappointed in the response time and so-called service. Oh yeah my tv is still making a buzzing sound.

I am wondering if this sound might be your color wheel spinning. The color wheel often makes a low humming noise as it spins. Try checking to see if this is not the source of your noise. You need the color wheel to generate the colors needed to turn the B&W picture generated by the DLP into a color picture.

Thank you,

Loud noise

I believe it is the color wheel. The motor might be going bad or it has dirt or dust in it.

I hope this helps

Loud Humming

It's possible a fan or a hard drive is going bad. When the bearings in those devices start to go out they a start making noises like that.

Toshiba DLP fan noise (52hmx95)

i constantly hear complaints about fan noise in dlptvs if you sit in front of your computer you will hear the same noise even in the next room there is no solution to the fan noise problem this product has a huge cage fan and a second and third three inch fans in it.... more than the samsung product it can be noticeable if the tv is on hard surfaces ie wood floors ,inthe corner, glass top etc the vents on the back of the tv allow for proper cooling of the lamp at shutoff so it doesnt shatter the tube its kinda like annealing glass its designed to extend the life of the lamp .... which im sure youve priced call toshiba and tell them your lamp is bad right now and get a new one for an emergency ( warranty if you can do it ) they are also improved this product is known to have short bulb life sometimes the zinging noise you hear is indicative of a bad color wheel in the light engine which would require replacement ( not cheap) toshiba will not piece out the color wheel assembly individually
