Planer is not feeding wood through without manual force

The planer is not feeding wood through without manual force asnd it leaves black skid marks on the wood from the rollers, its as if the blades and rollers are not on the same plane, the planer isn't that old and shouldn't have these problems.  i had an old dewalt planer and it had the same problem , can you help? please!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got a new 20" 209HH and I was getting marks on the top and snipes. I lowered the rollers and the snipes went away but the black marks were still there and the wood jumped going in after manual force to start feeding. I noticed the drive roller had the same imprint as the black marks so I increased the depth of cut which was very shallow up till now. It took off the black marks! I still haven't solved the manual force thing.

I had the same problem...sometimes you have to take the smallest amount off (1/64th) and it might work, otherwise your blades are probably dull. Try to feed the boards through the planer towards the sides, not just the center so they wear evenly across the length of the blades. They wear out very quickly, which makes this planer very frustrating. If you take the top cover off and inspect them, you'll probably see nicks in them and it's time to replace or rotate them. Each blade has two sides you can remove all the screws using the T-handle wrench from the top cover and flip them. Also, as the blades begin to wear, the planer will become louder and louder. That's another way to tell. When you install new blades notice how much quieter it is when you plane boards.

Clean the rollers with alcohol and that will work for awhile. Also wax the bed so it can slide better.

Dewalt 735 planer trips overload a lot. New blades, thin cut no difference. Run it, without wood, it trips. Overload switch? Checked everthing. Turns free with chains off. Bluespook

id check the feed roller drive or feed rollers them selfs I find due to pressure there under most times they get flat spots in them from sitting makes for a hard start to planer

its best to back off tension rollers when storing these and keep them bearings lubed up well
and yes it happens to sealed bearings too

Planer will not get up to speed

I suspect that the works are clogged up with wood chips or some long fibers like hair or string. You will have to do enough disassembly so that you can pull out the chips that are wrapped around the shafts, without removing the blades or any of the shafts themselves. The motor, the cutter, and the feed rollers could all be clogged up - as well as the speed reducing mechanism that makes the feed rollers turn slowly. Using compressed air will not do the trick. Needle-nosed pliers and a nut-pick will probably do it. Hair can be hard to see - so be thorough in cleaning. Good luck.

CHECK THE ROLLERS THAT PULL THE WOOD THRU, I HAD TO REPLACE MINE FOR THE SAME REASON.
IF THEY HAVE A LOT OF USE YOU WILL SEE WORN FLAT SPOTS ON THE ROLLERS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM

My 13" DEwalt Planer feed is slipping and leaving

Hello Ken,
The black marks you are seeing are most likely from the rollers that feed the material threw the planner. The marks are left on the board when the board stops but the feed rollers are still spinning. This occurs when the feed table is stickey with items such as pitch. I would clean off the table completly and wax it ( or some type of lube).
Another cause could be the matrial that you are using, if the stock is real rough it will not slide as easy as a smooth board.
I hope this helps.

Shop Dog.

P.S. after waxing or lubing the table run a scrap piece first to wipe off any excess.

I am feeding the wood but the rollers seem to be lower than the blade consequently the front roller is getting in the way and not allowing the wood to be in contact with the spinning blades.

go to the back of the planer and remove the cover. loosen the bolts holding the blade and let it out a fraction. it should have springs to push it out a little. make sure both blades are out the same abount. it is not hard to do and will be quick.

Thickness Planer (DW733) leaves fine scratches on wood surface.

It sounds like your blade holder assy has become misaligned on the blade drive shaft. Try if you can to use a straight edge on 2 planes 90 deg apart and see if there are any gaps in either of the srtaight edges. I suspect that the blade drive holder has become slightly dislodged from the drive collar on one end allowing the blade drive to tilt on the drive shaft. I had the same thing happen on another brand named Planer and it was a matter of reseating the collar to cure the stripes. Sure took a long time to sort out. Good Luck.

Ryobi planer won't pull wood through, Sometimes pushing/pulling helps.

I have this planer and what I have found is first clean the rollers with naptha on a rag be VERY CAREFUL plug machine in kick on and off un plug machine clean exposed part of roller then plug in and kick on again to move rollers, after that clean in feed and out feed tables then wax with hard wax and polish and wood should feed thru much better.
