Open Question

Kenmore 70 Series Model: 110.4767292 Clothes Washer It started wobbling in the top of the basket during final rinse and it was very noisy. I stopped immediately. I don't know whats wrong with it. Is it too technical and difficult to fix by my handyman skills? I have never tried to fix a washer before. Please guide me. Can not afford to hire a professional. Thanx in advance. Mirza

SOURCE: What is the date of manufacturing based on the serial number of my Kenmore 70 series washer?

Tyler,
It came off of the Clyde, OH production line the 26'th week of 2001.

Amazing, ain't it? Seriously... the info is embedded in the serial number. Here's the link to the code sheet.

Please remember to rate this solution as "FixYa", OK?

To tip the washer. put one foot against the front panel at the bottom and grab the control panel and pull the top of the washer toward you. Then let the washer back down and you should hear the rear legs adjust.
If it sits back down and you do not hear any adjusting of the legs, the legs might be hung up and you might have to tap on them (small hamer works great) to free them up.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Kenmore 70 series washer won't fill during rinse cycle

It appears your timer/main controller has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Whirlpool washer model wslp1100d after the rinse

Hi Derek.

There are several different problems that may result in basket wobbling and machine shaking heavily during the spin cycle. Sometimes the shaking can result in spin cycle not ending, like in your case.

To find out what the problem is the washer must be taken apart and the tub removed.

A common situation is given by a defective drive hub.

At the end of this comment there is a movie showing how to reach and replace the drive hub in whirlpool top load washers. In this washer you will find a more complicate device instead of the hub shown in the movie. There is a pulsator, the balancer and other parts that must be inspected. The two assemblies are indicated respectively as part 52 and 56 in diagram nr.1 below. Here the part list: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5239648&diagram_id=26470626#d26470626

If you find a foreign object such as a cloth below the tub, then that can be cause for the shaking and wobbling.

If the parts below the tub are OK, then one of the suspensions may be broken. Suspension (damper) is indicated as part 36 in diagram 2. Here parts: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5239648&diagram_id=26470625#d26470625

Kenmore series 70 fills with water on rise cycle but stops halfway throught then starts agian and finishes is this normal

If this has always stopped during the rinse cycle, most likely it's the "cool down" part of the rinse cycle.

See the following Sears site for manuals. Enter your model number and you should be able to download the proper manual for your washer.

Kenmore series 110 model 80

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Two things to check are the Basket Drive Block and the Brake and Drive Tube.

The clutch on the transmission drives the Brake and Drive Tube when in spin mode, the Basket Drive Block transmits the spinning of the Drive tube to the tub.

See the following description of how to pull the cabinet, agitators, drive block and drive tube.

As an aside, you don't need to buy a special spanner wrench to remove the Drive Block Basket Lock Nut. I found that by using a short 10" pipe wrench, opened all the way and hooked over one of the tabs on the nut, and giving it a short whack with a hammer, the nut will come loose.

Check that the basket drive block fits on the drive tube with the two tabs on the drive tube fitted into the slots in the drive block.

Kenmore washer series 80, Clothes still soapy

If you are getting no water spray during the rinse cycle that would cause the soapy clothes issue.

Are you getting cold water during the wash/rinse cycles? If you have the machine set to warm/warm you may only be getting hot water while the final spin is calling for cold.

If you have cold water available then the timer is not calling for the water spray. The problem is either in the mixing valve or the timer.

70 series Kenmore washer

POWERUP, YOUR WASHER COULD BE THE LID SWITCH OR THE COLD WATER VALVE. AT THE END OF THE WASH CYCLE, THE MOTOR WILL SPIN OUT THE WATER, BUT ONLY IF THE LID SWITCH IS ACTUATED. IF THE SWITCH IS BAD, IT WILL NOT SPIN OUT THE WATER AND THE TIMER WILL NOT ADVANCE FROM THAT POINT.
IF THE WASHER SPINS, THE NEXT STEP IS TO FILL WITH WATER FOR THE RINSE CYCLE. MOST WASHERS USE COLD WATER FOR RINSES. IF THE COLD WATER VALVE IS RESTRICTED OR FAULTY, THE WASHER WON'T FILL. IF THE WASHER WON'T FILL, THE WATER LEVEL SWITCH WON'T ACTIVATE AND THE TIMER WON'T ADVANCE TO THE NEXT STEP.

some fabrics are known to do that you have on wrong cycle setting there should be a setting for delicates and clothing and blankets and things when loaded to close to agitator will attract each other together so its wise when loading machine load in a circle leveled out till desired fullness away from agitator they shouldnt attract as much
