There should be a Reset buttom in the back, hold it for about 1 minute. If that doesnt resolve the issue try and unplug the router from power and press the reset buttom for one minute again.

ok Bro i got your fix. Try This

Unplug all LAN cables from the router.

•Unplug the router power cord connector from the back of the device.

•Using a paper clip or something similar that will fit into the reset hole, press continue to hold the reset button, then carefully reinsert the power cord, making sure not to release the reset button in the process.

•Continue to hold the reset button in for at least 15 seconds after inserting the power cord, then release it. After about 10-25 seconds the router will boot and it will be set back to the original factory default settings.

By default the password on the router is left blank, and the default IP address is

Resetting the 4-Port Router to factory default:

•With the router powered on, press and hold the reset button for exactly seven seconds, this will restore the router to factory default.

    •This also applies to: F5D5230-4 4-Port Cable/DSL Gateway Router, F5D6230-3 Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router (11Mbps), F5D6231-4 802.11b Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway Router, and F5D7230-4 Wireless G Router Resolution.

•Note: By default the password on the router is left blank, and the default IP address is

Security key

You can reset the router to factory defaults by using the reset button. It will not have a password anymore. After that you can choose a new password yourself. All instructions are here:

I cant connect to my wifi i forgot my security key

You just need to reset your router so you don't have to put any password anymore. To reset it, find the reset button, it is really small and you have to use a pin to be able to press it. Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds.

Depending on your router, it usually can be found here:

A friend of mine reset my router and now I can not get my secure setting to work anymore! It wont let me put a password, what do I have to do to reset it and put a new name?

Unfortunately, there is no way to recover a lost or forgotten password from a router or access point; you will need to reset the device to factory defaults. However, once the device is reset to factory defaults, you can use the default username ("admin") and password (either "password" or "1234" depending on your router) to reconfigure your router settings.if there is a small hole in the front or back of the router push a hair pin in to reset to factory settings
hope this helps

I was able to connect my router to my wireless laptop successfully. Then I applied security settings to it using my laptop. And down went my internet. The router is working perfectly, but my laptop wont...

what you need to do is go to your wireless settings on you computer and remove the wireless network that you connected to before.
then go and reconnect to your network any wireless security settings that need to be entered should be asked for if not then you will have to reset router and the best way tto do that is to locate small reset hole on rear of router and push and hold for 10 seconds, router must be powered on

My laptop wont connect wireless thru linksys anymore

Reset the router using the little reset button on the back. (Hold for a few seconds) It should be able to connect using default settings. Then you can log on and configure it with your router. Go to and you can set up your security and port forwarding if needed. (I recommend WPA or WPA2 for security, as I have cracked WEP passwords myself using brute force.) Let me know how this works out. If it doesn't work, I need more info such as your wireless network card model.

Can't get to anymore. why?

You need to find the reset button and press it with a needle head, untill all setting are reset. Power cicle your router and if you are using a modem. Try again. You shouldn't have any orange lights on your router. Now go to your computer, and you will find your wireless rounter name, try to connect to it, and it will ask you for your pin number. You can find the pin in the bottom of the router. After typing the router's pin, it will ask you for the security settings and stuff. Once done, you should be good to go.
