Nikon Coolpix 5400 replacement CCD needed

My camera needs a CCD replacement, but I cant find one in my country at a reasonable price (at local Nikon representative it costs more than a new equivalent camera). Do you know where can I try to find it in US and have it shiped to Brazil? Thanks folks.Edson

I've just discovered that for all of you lucky folks in US, Canada and Europe, Nikon is replacing inside parts for some Coolpix models, including 5400, for FREE. See by yourself: "It has come to our attention that certain electronic image components in the COOLPIX 3500, COOLPIX 4500, COOLPIX 5000 and COOLPIX 5400 cameras may, on rare occasions, fail. Failure is most likely to occur when the camera is used in extreme conditions, such as high temperatures and/or high humidity . Should you experience problems with your camera, please visit an authorised Nikon Service Centre to have it inspected. If a faulty component is discovered, Nikon will replace it free of charge - even if your warranty has already expired."

Look for a broken camera just like yours and use it for parts. I am sure there is one for sale somewhere out there at an online auction site.

Faded pictures with lines running horzonialy

Hi, Yo no need to fix this problem. This is a CCD failure and in some cases had been subject to a recall.
Contact Nikon support-this may be one of the recalls and replacement camera could be on its way. They will do it for free of cost.

Want to replace ccd of coolpix5400

Nikon is world wide. Contact Nikon and they should give you the information. This is something that is best to be done by a place that is experienced and properly set up to do this type of work.

Nikon, or their agent will have to replace it. You need to ask them the price. Probably cost nearly as much as replacing the camera.

LCD blank & No picture taken

This appears to be a well known CCD problem, which Nikon acknowledges only for the COOLPIX 3100, 5700 and SQ models. Nikon denies the CCD problems on the 5400 are related, even though a Google search for this problem returns numerous results which claim the same defective Sony CCD sensor was used in the 5400 as was used in the 3100, 5700, and SQ models. Blur on LCD and on pictures taken

Sorry to tell you this but your CCD is gone. In a fwe days time pics will be black in color. CP 5400 uses a batch of defective Sony CCD's. Nikon's service center in Kolkata, India replaced the CCD in my CP 5400 free of cost. This was because Nikon has issued a service advisory. Try your luck with the Nikon service center closest to your home!
