Re: can't play cd or read files on my lap top
Theres a number of things u can try:
1. system restore your laptop back to a date right before it stopped working.
2. take the cd drive out and then put it back in, then restart.
3. update new drivers for the cd drive
4. ensure your device is "enabled" under your hardware setting within control panel.

there is an issue in ur mouse pad/key pad...some keys are short or some keys are locked...
with respect to ur CD drive...it issue happens with the use and life of the laptop...
consult a service engineer....
or use a external USB drive...
if your cd wont read disk then maybe it got damage. you can change the drive let it repair.
Other method installing windows is to seek USB port DVD drive and then connect it boot the system using this external DVD drive.
method 2: You have to remove you have drive and attached to other pc using drive enclosure and then copy the installation disk to the drive. then boot you system if still boot and if not not then you have to boot using DOS base system. You can search documentation installaling XP using DOS command. you can search it in google.com.
it,s one of 2 things.
1:) your recording MP3 to CD. Only recognised on a PC, or MP3 Player. The standard CD Format Is WAV.
If you burn with Nero. you should have a tickbox Which Says ( Normalise all audio Files )
2:) the disk is not finalised. Closed having written the T.O.C Table-Of Contents. this is to allow the reader viewing it, what is actually written on the disk.
It is possible that this is a drive issue, I've seen drives that one of the optical reader device has gone out, but generally it'e the DVD reader and will only read CD's. It's very rare that the CD reader goes and the DVD reader works. Before you replace drive, if it's only music CD's (you didn't mention program CD's), then update your media player. If it still won't play, then unistall the media player and completely reload it. At this point you can replacse the drive.
Type of media settings might be the issue but making a change for standard CD/DVD recording (it affects reading too) Issue can be resolved. Right click on the CD/DVD drive (Usually D drive ) click on properties and select and choose the recording option. Click the enable CD recording for this drive option
Click on apply and OK. Try again. You may try after reboot the computer. If issue persist please post so we can think about some alternate solutions.
