I found the bolt on the bottom of the blower fan was loose and when I pulled the cord the piston was not going up and down. After I tightened the bolt it was looking like it might start but it would only fire when the primer button was used, there was no gas coming from the carb into the motor on it own. I saw nothing wrong with the carb but I did not check the head yet. I am looking for a manual but nothing so far, I need a breakdown of the carb and what the setting of the idle screw should be.

I had a similar problem and found that the cylinder head had loosened up due to vibration. I tightened the cylinder head and it worked find.

HI THE FIRST THING TO DO IS REMOVE LEAD OFF SPARK PLUG TOP THEN REMOVE SPARK PLUG ITSELF YOU WILL NEED A SPARK PLUG REMOVER OR A SOCKET TO DO THIS AFTER REMOVING THE SPARK PLUG CLEAN OFF EXCESS OIL BY DIPPING IN CLEAN PETROLAND CLEANING WITH TOOTHBRUSH LET DRY THEN WITH A FOLDED PIECE OF WET AND DRY SANDPAPER GENTLY RUB BETWEEN THE SMALL GAP AT END OF SPARKPLUG THEN REPACE SPARKPLUG AND IN MOST CASES IT SHOULD START FIRST GO BESTALUCK GLENN

I have a 26inch Craftsman's snow blower that won't turn over, I tried the rope and electric starter and it won't turn.

If motor is not turning it is possible that it is seized.up.
BTW there is a significant difference between not turning over and not starting.

Check to see you are getting spark at the spark plug. Take the plug out and put the plug wire on it and ground the the nut on the spark plug to the engine block and crank the engine and see if you get spark at the plug. If so then your carburetor has to be taken apart and cleaned.

Hi we have a Massey Ferguson Dyna 4 5465 and it was working this morning and then it died we started it up and it ran for about 1/2 a minute when we try starting it now we can hear the fuel pump runs for...

am i to assume its a diesel ,if so sounds like its out of fuel but i could be wrong as its been many years since i have worked on tractors and all the fancy electronic gizmo on modern vehicles can confuse me.Now firstly check the key as no doubt as its a modern one it has a immobilisor and if the head of key loses its chip inside the key head it will never start unlike the old ones that would run on paraffin diesel or petrol ,the later ones were diesel only but again providing they had fuel and oil with the rad topped up they ran 24/7 ,thats a point check the oil level if its low it may stop the engine from starting

I need to know how to set carb to factory settings, already cleaned it. It runs but not right, hard to start

Set flats at neutral to closed just below bowl height. Run mixture screw all way in by hand. Back out 2.5 rounds. Start and observe exhaust. Smells rich turn screw in 1/8 at a time
