Re: Vacuum billows dust
Its clogged. It needs to have a thorough clean out and this can be done by removing the sole plate / floor head where the beater bar is and checking to see that all the air ways or the dust channel that flows through t he main spine neck at the back is clear, checking the main spine at the back is clear and finally to check that there is no clogging at the top of the back spine as well. Oreck XL can become clogged quite quickly due to its relatively small suction tube openings and small motor.

Sounds like you have one of the Oreck's that has a sensor that looks for the brush turning and you received the wrong brush. Look to see if there is a metal ball embedded in the wood about a quarter or a third of the way down from the end opposite the belt end. If there is not the metal ball, you have the wrong brush roll. Getting the proper brush roller should make all the difference for you. Hope this helps!
sound like you have a loose wire inside the unit, " DO NO USE TILL ITS FIXED ". Carefully start taking apart in the locations where the wire runs through. Pay attention to all the wiring, any little nick could be the problem. Somewhere in there a wire is touching the inside of the unit. You might want to get intouch with Oreck, that is a manufacturing defect, and not worth a law suit if you get electricuted from it. Thats what the tingleing is, your getting juiced by it.
My vacuum's belt fell off, So I fixed it. Two days later my vacuum wouldn't turn on, so I opened it up again and took out a dust ball in between the electrical wires. I turned it on and sparks and snapping sounds came form the motor. Also burning rubber smell, What wrong? Is my vacuum fixable?, or should I buy a new vacuum?
(1) Rear wheels will get hair or thread wrapped around axles, dust, etc. and be hard to turn. Make sure each wheel turns easily.
(2) Small wheels on newer models (since about 1997-98) toward front are worn, missing or have same problem as item 1.
(3) Brush roll not turning. The brush roll actually helps pull this unit along the floor, as it rotates in the "forward" direction. If the belt broke, and you do not realize it, it may suddenly seem harder to push.
the main tube is clogged.
unplug it, open bag area, remove bag look for clog.
if clear, take off lower coller, pull up tube, remove blockage, either in tube or fan area.
if clear, look in bottom by intake area for blockage.
fan can not run backwards.

Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Oreck Upright 014T XL Pro 14 Upr Vac In answer to your question, if the HEPA filter is leaking then you should replace it because it has lost it’s filtration – but my question is – is it on the Oreck, Hoover or Electrolux --- all three have HEPA filters and needs replacing and to make sure that the HEPS filter is installed correctly or other wise the filter will leak and if that happens then contact your local vac dealer in your neighborhood. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.hoover.com Telephone Contact our Customer Service Department at 1.330.499.9499 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. EST http://www.oreck.com/Customer Service1-800-989-3535 Monday thru Friday Hours are: 7:00 am to 7:00 pm CST Saturday and Sunday Hours Are; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm CST http://electrolux.com/Customer Service1-800-896-9756 Electrolux Home Care Products – North America P.O. place handle half with the posts that hold the screws facing up.
silver pole with hole that goes completely throuigh goes over lower screw post (Long side)
static wire - L shaped end goes in small hole on opposite side of handle just below
vacuum switch hole, curve of wire should follow curve of handle and fits into top of
silver pole and pushes againt it providing push to hold siver pole.
That the bottom plate off, check for a clog in the inlet. If clear, then you probably have a clog in the handle tube. You will have to take the handle loose to clean it out. It may also need a new belt if you haven't changed it for a while, they stretch.
