Question about LG DLE5977 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Dryer not drying clothes

I have a old kenmore dryer,at least 10-`15 yrs old. It will not dry the clothes! It takes so long for it to dry a load. Could it be the heater? Is it worth for me to have this fixed? It took me almost all afternoon to get sheets dry from a queen size bed.

I'm guessing it is electric? Do the clothes get very hot? If not, one or both of your elements may be bad. If it does get hot inside after running for 15mins, then perhaps your exhaust piping is clogged up. Can you tell if the output blowing from your dryer is a weak or powerful flow?
Let me know.

OK, so back to basics, after running for 15mins open the door & feel the clothes. Are they very hot? They should be, if they are cold your gas is most likely not igniting. If they are hot, your output piping is probably clogged. Check the tubing leading out of your dryer for blockage. With the system running, their should be plenty of output of warm air through the tubing. Back to cold clothes, that indicates either your pilot is out or the electronic ignition is not firing to trigger the gas to turn on.

Same way towels take 2hrs to dry , white take an hour. this is insane after pending that much on a dryer that is only maybe 1 1/2 yrs old

Have the dryer vent checked and the venting from the wall to the exit of the home. a 50% blocked or crushed vent line will have a direct impact of the dry time.

How to check : disconect the dryer vent from the wall and ((((OPTIONAL--- put some old stocking -(( pantie hose )) on the end of the dryer vent to keep the lint and dust to a minimum.

run the dryer with a load of cloths and see if they dryed on time. If they did, then you have a cloged vent.

Dryer is hot, clothes arnt getting dry. blower? less that 1 year old Kenmore

Remove the vent hose from the dryer and dry a load of clothes . If they dry , then dryer is pushed too far back , kinking vent hose , or the vent from the dryer to the outside is blocked somewhere . A dryer either heats or doesn't heat (except for maytag associated dryers ) in which the blower wheel could be stripped out . But Kenmores don't have blower problems .

It takes a long time to dry a load of clothes

sounds as if you may have an issue with a blocked/clogged ventin, perhaps wher it leaves the home, a unit that is not able to expell the heat will tend to not dry the clothes properly, 2-3x to dry a good sign of venting issue

Most common cause of this is a clogged venting going to the outside to test this remove the vent from the back of the dryer and run a load if it drys ok them you know you have a venting issue and will need to be cleaned out if not plz repost and we can look deeper into it

Dryer won't dry

There are three possible parts that can cause this.
1. Thermal fuse
2. Thermostat
3. Flame sensor

https://www.repairclinic.com/Shop-For-Parts/a8b6d600503/Model-11072212100-Kenmore-Dryer-Parts

You can check the first two with a meter to see if they are ok. If they are then you should replace the flame sensor.
