I assume you mean your wireless router encryption key.
Some later model wireless routers have the Password(ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router andthis information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adaptersin your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit yourrequirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorizedaccess. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cablefrom your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computerand enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login andpassword and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID andEncryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 togenerate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born inJanuary 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop,configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wirelesssettings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops cancommunicate with your wireless router.http://www.fixya.com/support/r10267861-network_security_key

Cant remember the password

Push a pin into the reset hole at the back of the router for about 10 seconds.
Now the default username is (admin) and the default password is (admin).
If that wont work then leave the password field blank, and only enter (admin) as the username. Remember no brackets.

Belkin router setup wont work

you shouldn't type it as http://router/. instead you need to type the default gateway of the router.
most probably it will be either http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.2.1
after you type the above mentioned URL in the address bar, hit enter.
the router will ask for a default username and password.
again the username is admin, leave the password column blank and hit enter or log in.
you can find the option to change the default ssid and wireless key over there. if you need more assistance on this, please do reply to this post.
p.s: once you change the ssid and wireless key, you need to reconfigure your laptops or mobile phones or ipods whichever is connected wireless.

My password wont work on wireless d-link to my new laptop

I would reset the password back to default again just unplug the router from its plug in wait about 25 seconds then plug back in once fired up and working hit the reset button on the router quickly release the password will be admin, do not do this if you know the password at the router page, at the site to log in then go to your wireless section of the router configurations and change the password there. That address is 192.168.0.1. or 192.168.1.0 reset there. Thanks for using FixYa! please place a vote fr me if this assisted you in any way. John

Wont connect to wireless internet

Are you connecting wirelessly or with a cord? if wireless, you need to make sure that you are selecting the same security setting as the connection that you pick in 'network settings'. If the option is 'none', then you need not worry about a password. however if it has a password, then you need to make sure that you type that password in (case sensitive). I had the same problem and this worked for me. hope this helps...please rate if it does....thanks

Password forgotten

What you need to do here is to get the Wireless security from your Linksys router by accessing its setup page, Just type http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar of your working computer then that should be asking you for a username and password, just leave the user name blank and type admin for password. If you're already on the router setup page you will see there Wireless tab just go to it and after that go to Wireless security sub tab under wireless and you can find there the wireless key that you need..

If that wont work contact me back for further help....

Don't forget to rate the solution FIXYA thank you...............

Wireless wont broadcast

Hello, Depending on router brand but the Default Address is 192.168.1.1.....enter this in the address window of browser. You'll be prompted to enter user name and or password(You also need to change User name and Password). Default for both is "admin". From there you'll need to click on the wireless settings and check the box for "Enable wireless router radio" and "Enable SSID Broadcast". Be sure to Check "Enable Wireless security" for WEP security(I also use a 64 bit key). Hopefully this will help.
