Where did you purchase it from? An online retailer (and which one, preferably)? Or instore?

I would suggest taking it back to do an exchange, if it's in-store. Online is a bit more harsh on that rule, but it may be possible to do a return/exchange if the site doesn't specifically state they wont do exchanges. Usually, if you get someone on the phone that's management, or at least higher than call-jockeys, they're happy to do a special order for an exchange for a higher priced item (which the XP version is).

You may attempt contacting Asus themselves for a trade-in. I'm sure there's a warranty on it, and so they could take it in as an upgrade/trade-in.

Last resort: ebay/Amazon it, and put the recovered money toward the next pc.

The only other option is to find a 901 Xp distro disk (which is what you wanted to do here, but you need the distro of XP specific to the 901).

I have to wonder why you got the linux edition when you wanted XP... if you're not a linux user, it may be a good time to become one. You can use many windows programs in linux through an application called WINE.

To install windows on the Asus Eee comoputers, you need to install one that is built of linux.

This can be gained by paying an extra $50 when you make your Eee purchase, it is already installed to the computer.

The reason your are getting the blue screen is because these Eee computers are made specifiacly for linus and they cannot cope with your general Xp distro
