You probably were helped through their fee-based support. The representative should have told you that you were going to be charged. I would call Gateway and contest the bill. Do you have the name of the rep. that helped you/ That would be good to have.

How do i erase my forgotten password as i want to sell my laptop

I would sell it without the hdd. A new hdd is available for a small amount nowadays or take it to a reputable dealer who will remove the password for you at a reasonable fee.
I charge 30 GBPounds and would expect proof of ownership before I would remove the password.

If your laptop shows bios or logo screen then try taping F8 key while it's booting up, this will bring you to a boot screen boot in safe mode and restore system to before the crash.

Please help.i posted a while ago that i had done a system restore back a week, then got no urmon.dll,i tryed everything ,i think i restored it to a middle of a virus,i took it to a pc expert who charged me...

I think the safest and simplier way to have the system up and running is to reinstall the operating system. Back up your important documents and data and reinstall it. It is a safe way to get rid of unpleasant viruses and malawares.
Use http://www.fixya.com/support/r4213055-quickly_reinstall_operating_system for a quick reinstallation after. It is safe to use a Ghost image rather than a System restore.
I hope it suits your necessities

Dont have recovery disks and have virus...actually just missing disk 2

If the popup you're getting is from something like "MS Antispyware 2009" or similar, that's the same trouble I've seen on several other computers. Download a removal tool called ComboFix. You can find information on how to use it and links to download it here. This is a handy tool even if the virus you have is different as it will fix a number of virus and trojan problems. ComboFix can be run in safe mode if your computer can't start all the way into Windows. Turn your computer on, and when you see the Gateway logo screen press the F8 key. This will give you a startup menu screen from which you can pick starting in safe mode. This prevents Windows from loading everything except the minimum stuff it needs to start. Run ComboFix and let it repair the troubles it finds.

My computer keeps restarting why??

HI, your system has contracted a nasty virus that has destroyed a vital system 32 file that is needed for stability. You will have to preform a restoration to bring back stability and continuity. A good way to do this is to use the system restore disk that should have been delivered along with this unit. if you don't have this disk, you can use a Windows Xp install disk as well. be sure to wipe the partitions and reformat the drive to rid the system of this horrid virus attack.
