Sudden Error reading games but it doesnt say the disk is dirty...
I will put in an Xbox game (even BRAND new ones) and my Xbox will go to this weird, almost like a new startup sequence, and then it will go to a screen where it says: This is an Xbox game disk. Put it in your Xbox counsole to start playing. It will say this in about 7 different languages and there is no way i can get around it. I have been playing it for about 3 months now but it was used when i got it and this just started happening today. It's really confusing because it wont say an error number, and there is no chang in the power lights. Please help.
Re: Sudden Error reading games but it doesnt say the disk...
Out of my years of xbox modding ive never seen this screen. but i have seen this screen in a modded x360. means the firmware on the dvd drive is not reading the disc properly. ive never seen this in a xbox

When you pulled the controller, and the Xbox made the "weird noise" it was probably caused by the game sliding out of the tray. This can happen when a disk is spinning in the console and the console suddenly jerks in any direction.
if the xbox can read other games perfectly fine i would say that it might be a defect with you copy of the game. if other games have the same problem it means that the lens on your xbox is dirty or scratched. if dirty you could use a lens cleaner, but if its scratched you would need a new DVD drive put into the xbox which would have to be done through microsoft
Well the disc driver obviously works on most of your games except saints row 2. Saints row 2 is in mint condition well i have this problem too with my 360 it reads some games and it doesn't read my other ones well theirs a few ways one is by leaving the game inside of the console and shut it down wait like 5 seconds and turn it back on. Another is to make sure the laser its self doesn't have dust on it. And when you put in a disc listen to it as it spins if makes any weird scratching noise its probably the laser hitting the disc a lot of 360s disc have been getting scratched recently due to the fact in microsoft's original design of the disc drive the laser keeps on hitting the disc and scratching it so if thats the case you have to replace the disc drive. If solutions don't help let me know i might be able to help you more.
Does this problem only happen with this disk?
If it only happens to that one, then the disk may be dirty or broken.
If it happens to all of your disks, your console's "eye" (disk reading device) may need repair. If this is the case, you should contact 1-800-4MY-XBOX.
Microsoft Xbox have some common problem like red lights, E74 and Unreadable Disc . Microsoft is providing extended warranty for red lights
problem, Means you will have to spend some money in order to get this
problem repaired from Microsoft also you will have to wait for 3-4
weeks to get your Xbox back. There are many reasons disc read error can
occur in your Xbox like your disc might not be clean, laser might also
be dirty and many more common problem. I would suggest you to first

Similar problem here. Worked fine last night. This morning...every disc put in gets you a "unplayable" response. Does play DVDs though. Weird. Called xbox and they are sending us a box for repair. This is the second time sending it in. We had the ring of death crap before and had to send it in. It was in repair when Halo 3 came out. My son was having fits not being able to play it.
xbox is not on the top of my list as being a good, reliable gaming system.
