Cannot copy large files onto my WD passport

I am attempting to create a movie in iMovie. I have downloaded raw footage into iMovie. I am trying to now copy the dv files onto my hard drive (WD Passport, 120 gb) I have about 84 gb available. One of the video files is just over 5 gb. But every time I try to copy it to the hard drive, I receive an unexpected error, (error code 0). I have tried various ways of saving it to the drive with no success. The video files are now stored on a Mac, G5.

Your drive is probably in FAT32 format.  FAT32 has a 4GB file limit that is why your 5GB movie isn't saving.  You will have to format the drive in Mac OS file format (HFS) using Disk Utility.
Unfortunately once its in Mac format the drive will not be recognized by windows PCs.  What I do is have a program called macdrive installed on my windows computers so that they can access mac format hard drives.
i hope this helps!

Try to copy the file using Ultracopier for Mac and Teracopy for windows.
if still having problem, try to move the file by LAN transfer to a Windows Desktop or laptop. install Teracopy, then transfer the file to your portable drive using Teracopy.
Ultracopier and Teracopy is use to transfer large file.

Hi I have a quick question. after I have been downloading my pictures from my camera to computer, I am not able to edit them or download them onto any websites. is this an error w/my camera or computer?

You did not state which computer or software you are using to edit your video, bu the general consensus is the raw footage has to be "unwrapped" from its compressed form (video gets compressed to fit on SD card) so that it can be editable with your software. Otherwise, editing the footage will be difficult. I use a Mac and FCP. My workflow is - after moving the files from my SD Card to my ext. hard drive, I batch load them into MPEG Streamclip (free software for PC and Mac). Then I choose Apple ProRes 422 (LT) to transcode my raw footage. After waiting for the process to finish (minutes to hours, depending on how many files you batch load), I import my files into FCP and everything works great. No more issues. Also, if you are working on a Mac, iMovie will accept your Rebel.mov files without issue. iMovie unwraps the footage with the Apple Intermediate Codec automatically and editing in iMovie is so simple that it makes me want to smack myself for not trying it sooner after editing on FCP for the last 10 years.......

Convert Sony TX100V 1080/60p MTS to AIC MOV for iMovie 11 and keep the raw quailty

The Sony DSC-TX100V is on the iMovie '11 compatibility list, But it's a AVCHD 1080/60p camera -- iMovie '11 supports only 30fps! The Sony DSC-TX100V another option for 1920 x 1080/60i which equates to 60 interlaced fields per second, but the video quality of 60i recording mode is not better than 60p mode, so personally i prefer to choose 1080/60p for recording mts footage. So if I want to edit Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p .mts video with 60fps high quality for iMovie 11 on Mac, must to convert Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p .mts files to iMovie 11 before editing.

After google search , I need convert my Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p .mts to Apple Intermediate Codec MOV for iMovie 11 with keep the raw quailty, I found Final Mate for Mac is the recommended can convert Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p MTS to 1080/60p AIC MOV for editing on Mac. Then I download and try it. And I had succeed with the Apple Intermediate Codec at 1920x1080 60fps editing for iMovie 11 and i'm very satisfactied with the output quality after uploading the videos on Youtube.

Here is the step-by-step guide to quickly convert Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p MTS to AIC 1080/60p (*.mov) for editing in iMovie 11 on Mac.

Step 1. Directly download 60fps .mts files from Sony DSC-TX100V to Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac.
Connect Sony DSC-TX100V to PC via USB cable. You will face the pop-up message asking you to use camcorder wizard or not. If you do not get the message, just click the Wizard button. Click Yes and follow the wizard to download/import 1080p files to the program.

Step 2. Create a Movie for Converting Sony DSC-TX100V 1080/60p MTS files to AIC 1080/60p MOV.

Method 1): Just select one or multiple video files you would like to convert and then drag and drop them to Movie tab. In this way, a Movie for conversion will be created.

Method 2): Click downlist of Add button and select for conversion. A blank movie is created. Then drag and drop your Sony DSC-TX100V 60fps .mts files to such a movie for merging together and making a conversion.

Step 3. Export AIC MOV video file.
Click the Export button and choose "Export into Editor". Follow iMovie and Final Cut Express > Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) (*.mov) to choose export format for further editing in iMovie. In this way, all video clips will be merged as one single movie for convert to iMovie.

Tips: You are free to set/adjust output MOV files parameters (Bit rate - high quailty, Frame rate - 60, Resolution/Size - 1920 x 1080, channel - 5.1 channel) to make a good output quality.

After the conversion, the AVCHD videos could be imported and recognized by Mac iMovie 11 with 60fps highest quailty. And after editing you can upload the best quailty .mts files to Youtube for share.

I have recorded footage for a fashion show at high quality for a client. When i attempt to edit the footage on imovie on my mac the footage comes out very jittery. The footage is fine when played back...

Hard to say without seeing it and more details of the video coding of the files you recorded but I think you shot it interlaced and you are trying to edit/view progressive, or the field dominance is wrong.

Have a look here, this should sort it either way

Help to backup full computer programs & docs with WD Passport 160

Try going to the "Computer" icon and look for the external drive. Open the ext. drive folder and look for the InstallSeagateManager icon, the Application one. Double-click on it and it will allow you to install the software to do a backup on your new computer. First thing you should see is the Language Selection screen. I think you can take it from there!

One tool is required, that is Doremisoft Video to Flash converter mac. Therefore, when you have done your movies in iMovie and would like to add the movie to your website, you can achieve it by the ways of exporting iMovie movies to hard disc as a Quicktime clips and then converting Quicktime movie to Flash FLV/SWF with the mac video to flash converter.

Can't load a 13 gig avi file onto wd drive with 90 gigs free

Typically this is because there aren't large enough fragments to load. Run defrag several times and try again. You might also run the cleanup program and remove any temporary files, temporary internet files and anything in your waste basket before you run defrag.

Please let me know how this turns out.

JVC CAMCORDER GZ-HD7U

You CAN NOT use the Firewire to capture your footage like DV or HDV camcorders. I too Have a macbook pro and use FCPS2 to edit my footage. If you want to get the footage off of the HD7u, you'll have to connect via USB2.0 and download the .TOD files and use a program to convert them. I use MPEGStreamclip. It will work with the .TOD files and convert them to a format that iMovie or FInal Cut will understand. If this is not for professional work you'll probably be fine converting the footage to the HDV standard or DV standard and not have to render in FCP to edit the footage.
Caution... MPEG2 codec may be needed. If you have FCP or have Quicktime pro, you probably already have it other wise you can purchase it from apple for $29.99 or if you try real hard (not to hard) you can probably find it on a torrent for free.
I hope this helps your situation
