Question about Canon Cameras
If you drop your camera in the dirt a lot, I would send it in for the cleaning. It just takes one grain of sand, if left to bounce around long enough inside your camera, to enter the lens assembly and jam a gear in the lens gearbox forever. Most sand will not jar loose again, and will require a repair to remove it. If you shake your camera and can hear dirt bouncing around inside, I would take the free cleaning service right away.
