I have multiple tiny blue dots bottom to bottom center. Started out as just one or two, but has continued to multiply.

Also, there's a light blue "cloud" on the left side of the screen that slowly changes shapes and migrates up and down that side of the screen!!

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY SONY GRAND WEGA 42" REAR PROJECTION TV ( KF-42WE610 ).  IT STARTED WITH A COUPLE BLUE DOTS IN THE UPPER LEFT SIDE AND NOW HAS SPREAD TO THE WHOLE LEFT SIDE OF SCREEN.  IT LOOKS LIKE A SKY FULL OF STARS INCLUDING AN AREA THAT LOOKS LIKE THE MILKY WAY.  WE HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT TWO NEW BULBS AND FEEL WE'VE GOT A LEMON............

You have a bad optical block. Sony is aware of this issue and was covering the repairs until June of this year, but unfortunately, that warranty extension has expired. Your best bet would be to contact Sony customer support at 800-222-SONY

My screen has little dots appearing sometimes red sometimes blues behind the picture i just replaced the lamp bulb as i thought it would cure the problem

the projection tube needs to be adjust for color alignment, each tube (red, green, blue) must be aligned so you there would be no color smear appear on screen. if it is aligned try to set up the color balance, hue etc.

I have blue dots on the screen. I cleaned the glass on the projection bulb and the prizm but still have blue dots.

Your tv is an LCD projection one - in which the image is generated by 3 small LCD screens. The blue dots are pixels from the blue LCD that are dead - always fully open. The only fix is to replace the LCD panel and that is going to cost you around $300.

Blue dots on screen. what is it and can it be fixed? a new bulb was recently installed.

Yes,it is repairable.Blue dots on screen is sign of LCD failure at optical block assembly. There are three LCD on the optical assembly RED,GREEN and BLUE. Blue LCD failure causes blue dots on screen. Repair should be done by replacing blue LCD. Note! LCD replacement needs Extra care and precise tools such as oscilloscope and color pattern generator , for the color alignment after replacing LCD. But if you can afford, replacing the optical block is better,

Blue hue on left side and tiny blue dots on most of screen. The dots seem to dissapear and reappear if you look closely. I changed bulb about two months ago and it seemed to just get worse since then.

The blue hue on the side and dots are most likely a damaged (burnt light or optical light engine).

This is very common and you may want to contact Sony as there were programs for some models even if OUT OF WARRANTY.

The lamp in the set shines into a a L shaped engine with baffles and lens (red, green, and blue segments) and Blue is closest to the heat from the lamp and usually is the first place to get this type of damage.

I do not enjoy giving bad news but this is what I am sure is your problem.

Blue section (corner) and blue dots

This set has no internal manual adjustments for color. The Tracking or B&W balance is accessed via the service menu. I don't suggest you attempt to adjust without instrumentation. the trouble with your set is not an adjustment. Most likely the Optics are at fault. This model has had issues with filters in the optics being destroyed over time by the lamp. The blue haze will get worse and continue to grow over the whole picture. The only option is to remove the Optics (light engine) and sent it out to be rebuilt.

The Optical Block Assy would have to be replaced, same part that causes Blue Dots, not considered to be user replaceable.
