The focus controls on this set are in the front behind the bezel.
I'm not sure, but, I think on this age of Samsung, the screws to the front bezel are on the back side of the set. After removing the screws from the back, the front bezel snaps off and the door behind the bezel need to be removed. Watch the wires connected to the bezel, they need to be attached in order to turn on the set.
The focus controls are on a black control block (there are three of them, one for each color). Adjust each color for sharpest picture. I use words on the screen for alignment.
Each CRT board has a screen control (Adjust each slowly until retrace lines appear on the screen and then back off until they disappear). You may turn off the color and make sure that the picture is black and white. If it is not, then, which ever color is dominant, back it off a bit with that screen control.
Facing the set, Red is left, Green is middle and Blue is on the right.
Use only one hand inside an operating television. Do not touch the board, just the controls.
This concludes television alignment 101.

Samsung HP-S4253x plasma TV flashing broad bright vertical orange bars and many pixels flashing green color

your Samsung TV is experiencing issues such as sound but no picture, you can reset it by unplugging it and holding the power button for 30 seconds. If you're having issues turning your TV on, you may need to unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it directly into an outlet that you know works properly. You can also try pressing and holding the power button on your remote until the TV turns off and on again. If the issue persists, please contact Samsung Support for further assistance. REFERENCES:

TV shuts off with high color images . Example: explosions, bright lights etc

Normally, the screen control being up a little to high, would cause this problem. If no one has worked on this unit when it started may be a sign of something else, for example, the 200 volt line may be running a little low. Check the brightness and contrast for starters and if that doesn't help, then, the screen control would be my next step. Hope this helps.

LCD brightness question

You can adjust the brightness or color of the LCD display as needed. 1. Set the POWER switch to CAMERA position. (In the PLAYER mode, you may only setup the LCD while the tape is playing.) 2. Open the LCD screen, and the LCD switches on. 3. Press the MENU button. 4. Turn the MENU DIAL so that VIEWER is highlighted and then press the ENTER button. 5. Turn the MENU DIAL so that LCD ADJUST is highlighted. 6. Press the ENTER button to enter the sub-menu. 7. Turn the MENU DIAL so that it highlights the menu item you want to adjust (BRIGHT SELECT, BRIGHT ADJUST, COLOR ADJUST). 8. Press the ENTER button again. You may select NORMAL or SUPER in the BRIGHT SELECT feature and press the ENTER button to save the setting. Use the MENU DIAL to adjust the value of BRIGHT ADJUST and COLOR ADJUST. You can set values for BRIGHT ADJUST between 00 ~ 35 and COLOR ADJUST between 00 ~ 35. 9. Press the MENU button to finish the setting.
